Why Streisand's hot & bothered
New York Daily News ^ | 12/06/04 | Adam Lisberg

Posted on 12/06/2004 2:18:49 AM PST by kattracks

Forget about gory violence on the silver screen. Ignore the suggestive vixens of prime-time TV.

What really, really bothers Barbra Streisand are those impotence drug ads.

"You know, I resent this thing about Hollywood and moral values," Streisand told Time magazine in an interview - until she was interrupted by "Meet the Fockers" co-star Dustin Hoffman.

"Amazing," he said. "There she goes."

"I just can't stand it," Streisand rattled on. "What movies are out now that have questionable moral values? You know what I think has questionable moral values? The Cialis commercials."

Cialis is an anti-impotence drug that improves a man's ability to, uh, function, for up to 36 hours.

I remember the guide showing us the house Babs rented and saying that the town thought Mr. Nolte was great. Being naive I asked "What about Barbara Striesand?" She repeated.... "The town thought Mr. Nolte was great"

LOL! Another telling anecdote!

"You know what I think has questionable moral values? The Cialis commercials."

A) No, nose - I don't want to know what you think, and

B) I wonder which has done more to p*ss off the islamofascists: commercials like Cialis' or the crap hollywierd vomits out which is filled with vulgar language, nudity, violence, and oh so much more?

Yes, there are a lot of commercials I'd prefer not to be bombarded with - but tell you what - I am infinitely more offended by hollywoody, miz BS.

Re: #7
That one really, really rubs me the wrong way. I turn the sound down and turn my head when 'Bob' populates the screen.

BTW.. Can't use 'Babs' and 'hot' in the same story.

Exactly. I laughed my head off at the first movie & would go to see it if BarbedWire Streisand wasn't in it. I can wait for it to come on TV now.

Come on, Babs, no movies of questionable moral value? How about "Alexander."

On the other hand, I do agree there are just a few too many of those types of commericals - but then, I have a problem with the number of commericals for prescription drugs in general.

Actually, I found that one the funniest of all, but they must have realized, or been told, that they'd crossed the line with Bob and the Japanese, because they dropped that ad real fast.

If you really wanted to see it, you could buy a ticket for another movie and then go see "Meet the Fockers".

Once we buy a ticket for a movie and go into the theater, the attendents don't care where we go.

One of the funniest things I ever saw was a mixup by a local TV station when I was in college.

They showed the video of a dog food commercial (a dog running through a meadow) with the audio from a feminine napkin commercial.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

The FDA also made Viagra remove the commercial of the man and woman shopping, and they stop while he leers at the frilly nothing in the window of the Victoria's Secret-like store. They said the commercial wasn't focusing enough on the particulars of the product itself...

Jimmy Durante, now there was a real entertainer. The public never heard him bitch and complain about each and sundry little thing. Hollywood should study the old hands.

The music in the Cialis commercials is very reminiscent of the soundtrack for a porno movie.

So is the weather channel's music...I am always teasing my hubby...asking him if he is watching his porno station again : ) Ugh...it's too early to even think about BS being hot and bothered about *anything*.

Thats okay, funny or not, I'd just rather not see it all if it has the her-schnozzness in it.

Same with a lot of those Hollyweird-o's who think we should bow down to their greatness. They can't even understand how people would have an opinion thats different than theirs. Thankfully there is about 60,000,000 Americans that told them that they don't have the final word last month

The music in the Cialis commercials is very reminiscent of the soundtrack for a porno movie. I halfway expect to see the pizza delivery guy get dragged into the bored housewife's boudoir during those things.

LOL!... too true. The absolute worst (to date) was the ad for "Viacreme" that ran for a short period of time. Not only did it feature a "'70s porno movie" soundtrack, the two women in the ad (discussing the merits of the product and where to get the free sample) had acting ability to match the "wocka-wocka" music.

IIRC, the "active ingredient" in the stuff was *menthol* - kinda like Vicks Vapo-Rub. (!!) I believe I'll pass on the "gentle warming sensation", thanks.

Why Streisand's hot & bothered

Streisand and hot in the same phrase, paragraph page seems to me a contradiction. Streisand was never hot. Just repulsive. (and stupid)
