They are caving in to the same thing that the Oklahoma legislature caved in to...pressure from a minority.
The problem is that the majority is (by nature) silent.
If Macy's just put up the Christmas decorations, the whole issue would sort itself out, and I truly doubt that they would see a negative impact.

The secular-progressive movement knows that it is organized religion, most specifically Christianity and Judaism, that stands in the way of gay marriage, partial birth abortion, legalized narcotics, euthanasia and many other secular causes. If religion can be de-emphasized, a brave new progressive society can be achieved. What will Mrs. Clinton do with this in the coming months.....?

I have a hard time with Bill O'Reilly; I don't trust him; and being a woman, I have great instincts about dudes with an agenda..I think he has an agenda of his own. But he's right on about this one!

Christmas as a celebratory holidy is a relatively new thing... Victorian era or thereabouts. Prior to that, it was dour at best, and largely frowned upon in the US. Not true. The Puritans in New England didn't celebrate but Christmas was celebrated in the rest of the American colonies from the times of the first settlements.

As long as Islam exists on the face of the planet, "de-emphasizing" Judeo-Christian beliefs will NOT result in a secular state. It will result in a vacuum into which Islam will flow. And everybody knows how tolerant Muslims are of secular causes.

If everyone decided to celebrate the spiritural meaning of Christmas instead of the commercial meaning the National economy would collapse. Not really.
But it would make a big dent in earnings. And the truth is, it's already happening in Christmas spending. The trend is unmistakable, it slows a little more each year, as the emotionally disappointing spree is being recognized by more and more.
Thanksgiving has become the favorite holiday of choice for a growing number.

I agree with you.
I wonder how God feels when he sees Christians (CINO) not standing up to the devil of secularism.
This is a fight that America can not afford to lose at any cost.

Actually, a Yule Tree. Pre-Christian Norse/Teutonic pagan symbology.

Prior to that, it was dour at best, and largely frowned upon in the US. If what I saw on the History Channel is correct, until the middle 19th Century Christmas was often celebrated in a very rowdy fashion like the original Saturnalia festivals from Roman times. It wasn't until the middle 19th Century when many of the more "sober" traditions of Christmas appeared in Great Britain and what is now Germany, which changed Christmas into what we know today.

Thanksgiving has become the favorite holiday of choice for a growing number. And, of all things, Halloween! And it's not the innocent, trick-or-treat Halloween that we remember as kids. It's been co-opted by adults and has taken on a disturbing trend toward the dark side.

It's my understanding that stores earn 40-50% of their annual sales revenue between the day after Thanksgiving to Christmas.
If retailers suddenly lost 40-50% of their annual sales the end result of canceled orders for goods, layoffs, huge unemployment, foreclosures, stock losses, and bankruptcies would cause a collapse of the economy
What is the basis of your difference of opinion?

"It is an old agenda" Wanting to be a god is the oldest [Ge. 3:5] agenda there is.
Legalists never give up attempting to impose their political / religious correctness on the rest of us.
"Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies, The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." ~ C.S. Lewis, In Freedom
