God bless you for loving Lenny, and for letting him know his valor will never be forgotten!
Rest in Peace, valiant warrior, and may you again rest gently among the clouds...
May he rest in peace. Prayers for his family and loved ones.
Great post. Lenny, you will rest in peace. Lenny (Leonard) was a very popular name with Jews of that era. So was Norman. Jews are the Norman conquerors of Israel, didn't you know?
The Sumner family was old n famous in Boston so this is how Sumner Redstone (CBS Viacom) got his name 80? years ago
He's still is enough on the ball to torment me and my sister <grin>. He's close to Lenny's age and had the honor to help out the great General George Patton in France. The great 3rd Army. My father was in a railroad unit, engineering, to keep the supply trains running. His group was attached to the 3rd Army.
I lost my own WWII vet father 8 years ago, and I still miss him, and always will. He spent 5 years in the army, having enlisted before Pearl Harbor, and went with the 5th Army into North Africa and up through Italy.
God Bless him, I suspect he's already met my father in law and they're swapping stories by now. It will be a year on Jan 1 without Gene.
Prayers up for your family during this Christmas.

I know how it feels. My F-I-L, a Navy veteran of most of the big kamakazee (sp?) attacks in the Pacific, died a couple of years ago.
I miss him still.
He did good, indeed.
Like my own father, your father-in-law was one of many Americans who truly saved civilization for the rest of us. My condolences and my thanks go to you and to him.
I'm so sorry, Inyokern. Prayers on the way for his soul and for his family and friends.

thank you for sharing your FIL's story with us...and may God grant you peace in the coming days.
Sincere sympathy and prayers for your family.
I lost my WWII era father-in-law two years ago. His last years were much as you described.
He was with the occupying forces in Japan and helped run the communication lines ahead of our troops.
One of the best has passed.
bttt!
Thankyou Lenny.
God bless Him richly and may he rest comfortably at the foot of our Heavenly Father
Thank you Lenny, and God bless.
