Amen. I have been flamed about being against IVF as well. There is a story about a woman who birthed her own grandkids (yes triplets) for her infertile daughter. I am sorry but there is something creepy about carrying your son-in-laws babies.

Give them the money to go to Romania and adopt some needy kids.

If she has longevity genes and never had children, i see nothing wrong with it. At worst, it would be like so many children who are raised by grandparents.

Ms. Mahapatra and her husband had tried to have children the natural way but without success, and when she was of natural child-bearing age, high-tech fertility treatments did not exist. They had always wanted children, and other family members wanted them to have the chance now that the fertility technology was available. Nobody ought to be worrying about that family. They seem to be a close-knit extended family, and the baby will grow up with more adult love and guidance than most babies born in this world can ever dream of.

I doubt she will make it that far. This is insane.

It gives a whole new meaning to "baby-making machine"! The rationale is that children exist for the parents' gratification ... the same rationale that kills babies when their parents don't want them.

She would do better to spend her money on the hundreds of thousands abandoned in Romania's orphanages.

To elaborate ... the "fact" of a child, a unique person who will never be repeated, is so much more important than the "experience" of the parents who produce the child. As you know, pregnancy and childbirth are a drag! What matters is the result. The child is what matters, whether he enters your family through natural childbirth or adoption.

Looks like Dracula's bride. It's almost a relief to hear she was inseminated.

I have some concerns with this.

The likelyhood of her being alive for her kids to reach their 18th birthday is low. She'd have to live to be 85 or 86 for that to happen. The likelyhood of her being in good health is even lower. I'm not sure of the dad's age, but I assume he's at least 67 as well. It's possible they can be in good health at 85. My grandfather's cousin is 89 and in good health.

That said, my 80 year old grandmother is fighting cancer. My other grandmother passed at 79. My grandfather passed at 72.

Hopefully they will be in good health and able to take care of their kids.

14 year olds can be real bratty. I wouldn't test it with a 72 year old mother, she's lible to get a broken hip. It would be too tempting for a tempermental PMSing 14 year old. It's something the "granny" is going to regret.

giving birth ages the body. A women in her 20s can age to seem like someone in their 30's. It takes a few years to bounce back. It takes even longer to bounce back the older a woman gets. There will reach a point where a woman can never bounce back. I wouldn't do after the age of 35.
