Star Mangled Banner
15 January 05
ALI G star Sasha Baron Cohen was almost lynched by angry Americans after taking a prank too far at a rodeo.
Cohen, posing as his Kazakhstani journalist character Borat, insulted people in Salem, singing a mangled version of the American national anthem.
"If he had been out there a minute longer, I think someone would have shot him," said one local.
Cohen told them he supported the war on terrorism and said: "I hope you kill every man, woman and child in Iraq, down to the lizards."
"I hope you kill every man, woman and child in Iraq, down to the lizards."
I'm surprised the idiot is still able to walk.
Somebody's off their meds.
They should have strapped him onto "California Hotel" with a suicide wrap.
This what is so shocking about people with a leftist point of view. The cannot fathom or even comprehend, that someone may feel differently about something than they do.
That is why they tell themselves that the election was lost by them because of fraud, marketing or what ever. They cannot imagine that someone would repudiate them.
I wish he had been lynched.
P.S. I have met some Lace Monitor Lizards during my stays at Croajingolong National Park in far South Eastern Australia that were very interesting creatures.
Sheesh. What a moron. He won't be invited back.
He's also a Kohanim, from the priestly caste of the Jewish people, but I don't think he will have any place in the Messianic government. He might just get an occasional gig as the substitute court jester, or he just might be consigned to traveling around the world working at small, insignificant shows at divey bars in western towns.
Isn't Ali G from England? If so revoke his visa and never let him return. if not, oh well...
Yes he is a Brit. Spoiltbrit.
Insulting folks at a rodeo no less! NOT a wise idea for a variety of reasons.
Yes, another spoilt Brit-brat trying to embarrass his father--and succeeding.
Any truth the rumor he is part of the half time show at this years Super Bowl?
Maybe, but if you were familiar with Cohen's "Borat" skits, you know he plays it WAY over the edge. It amazes me that he isn't punched out regularly.
That said, I find him hilarious. But that's just me.
He was a graduation speaker at Harvard last year, showing that even Harvard students have ...well, they have something!
Did you see the Andy Rooney interview?
Rooney Victim of Ali G Prank
Thursday, August 26, 2004
Attention assistants of high-profile network news stars: You and your bosses are simple prey for Sacha Baron Cohen (search) better known as goofy British rapper/TV host Ali G.
The latest newsman to fall victim to Ali G's inane questions is "60 Minutes" curmudgeon Andy Rooney (search), who lost his temper and tossed Ali G from his office while the rapper (who is white) accused him of being a racist a sensitive subject with Rooney.
The surreal segment aired during the end credits on last Sunday's episode on HBO.
To land Rooney for the show, "Ali G" producers bypassed CBS News' usually cautious press department and contacted Rooney's assistant directly.
Rooney was sent an official-looking letter from what he believed was a "youth-oriented, educational, British show" and was asked to participate in an interview about pop-culture, says a network source.
Last spring, about three "reputable"-looking staffers from "Ali G" turned up at Rooney's office to set up their equipment. Minutes before the interview began, Cohen, in the guise of Ali G, bounded into the office but didn't say a word until the cameras began to roll.
Instead of playing along, Rooney harped on Ali G's grammar a hard-to-understand combination of British slang peppered with made-up street talk and finally blew his top after getting hit with questions about "da media."
On "Da Ali G Show," Cohen hoodwinks unwitting guests into sometimes startling admissions with his in-depth portrayals of three characters: Ali G, Borat, a phony TV host from Kazakhstan, and Bruno, an openly gay fashion reporter from Austria.
Cohen's recent victims include a laundry list of recognizable names from media and politics including ABC newsman Sam Donaldson (search) and Pat Buchanan (search).
"Class Day speaker Sacha Baron Cohen, better known as Ali G, is escorted back to the podium after his speech to receive an honorary membership in the Class of 2004."
hmmmmm...... Lots of ropes at that event I'd guess.
...working at small, insignificant shows at divey bars in western towns
As opposed to working at large, significant shows at upscale bars in Eastern towns?
Pedants are boring.
Actally, only one member of the audience became violent: Rosanne Barr, who was heard to shout "You're stealing my bit!" as police whisked her away.
