This is the same Nancy Pelosi who said that Democrats "could have brought down that statue cheaper," when asked to comment about the image of the US tank tearing down the statue of Saddam Hussein.

In comments on Sunday, Pelosi described the Iraq vote as an "accomplishment," but said it would have gone better but for Bush's blunders. "It would have been more successful if the political situation had been nurtured better, if Iraqi security could have been better organized and trained," she complained.
This must be new Democrat talking point. The Iraqi election would have gone much better if Bush wasn't President.
This point of view ignores the fact that there wouldn't have been Iraqi elections if Bush wasn't President.

The Democrats, not just Pelosi but Kennedy, Dean, and Kerry, thankfully do not get it. They have forgotten that, when you find yourself in a hole, you should first stop digging. They keep running out the same arguments that helped them lose the last election: the economy is a mess, we should defer to European opinion in our diplomacy, we need a firm timetable or exit strategy for Iraq, the insurgency in Iraq is growing, et cetera.
These arguments didn't work in November because the American people, in their wisdom, understood that the Democrats are wrong. None of these arguments are based in reality. The more the Democrats run them up the flagpole and the more the American people do not salute, the more the American people will move away from the Democrats.
The next debacle for the Democrats will be Social Security. Bush will propose voluntary partial privatization which will extend Social Security's solvency by offering private accounts in return for reduced guaranteed downstream benefits. Most Americans will think highly of this plan. The Democrats will reflexively oppose it in part on the grounds that Social Security is not in crisis. Bush will then bring out the CBO and actuarial studies that show just the opposite and the Democrats own contradictory statements from the 90's, and even more people will move away from the Democrats.
It's alsmost sad to see a once great party implode.

Whats wrong with this woman?A bit of pelosi History. She's the daughter of the late Democrat mayor of Baltimore city, Tommy D'Alesandro, one of the crooked politicians who give crooked politicians a bad name. She's the second generation of a family that was raised to political privilege and expects that what she thinks actually means something. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Amazing - according to the Pelosi bunch, there was no way to even hold elections when they were held, there should have been a much smaller turn-out and a much higher casualty rate. In other words, by their standards, Bush did the impossible, and all they can do is bluster about how it was only comparable to our own imperfect system. No wonder they are generally considered a Godless bunch - they pooh-pooh miracles and exalt their own sorry asses.

The Dem. party has certainly declined from the days of Roosevelt, Truman and Acheson. What a small minded jerk!
