Gingrich to Pelosi: Change 'Outrageous' SOU Rebuttal
NewsMax ^ | 2/2/05 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 02/02/2005 5:19:38 PM PST by wagglebee

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich called on House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Wednesday afternoon to change her rebuttal to tonight's State of the Union Address, saying the language she intends to use referring to U.S. troops in Iraq as "an occupying force" is "outrageous."

"I hope before she says it tonight that she will withdraw that phrase and does not use it tonight," Gingrich told radio host Sean Hannity. "That's like describing American forces in Germany during the Cold War as an occupying force instead of a force that was protecting the German people from the Soviet Union." In a transcript of her pre-taped remarks released to the press earlier today, the top House Democrat complains: "We all know that the United States cannot stay in Iraq indefinitely and continue to be viewed as an occupying force. Neither should we slip out the back door, falsely declaring victory but leaving chaos."

Gingrich predicted that Pelosi's remarks would be used by America's enemies as a propaganda tool.

"You don't give them a chance to play the Democratic leader around the world saying something that even implies" you're critical of the troops.

"This is a big mistake. It is a bad thing for America. How can you be quiet about something that's this outrageous?" Gingrich said.

She's just parroting Ted Kennedy. All the radical, leftist freaks actually believe their own delusions.

They're slipping more and more into hysteria.

It would be interesting to note how the courts would construe the ' aid and comfort ' clause in the treason portion of the Constitution?

A quick definition from www.lectlaw.com says about this clause:
"AID AND COMFORT - The U.S. Constitution, Article VIII, Section III, declares, that adhering to the enemies of the United States, giving them aid and comfort, shall be treason. These words, as they are to be understood in the constitution, have not received a full judicial construction. They import, however, help, support, assistance, countenance, encouragement. The word aid is explained by Lord Coke as comprehending all persons counselling, abetting, plotting, assenting, consenting, and encouraging to do the act, (and he adds, though not applicable to treason; who are not present when the act is done)."

All of you who are wishing she would say it for political reasons are forgetting that it could cost American lives. Even Hannity said he was not going to mention it anymore so she would say it and look foolish. Who's looking foolish here?

Newt just out to get some facetime. Maybe he will run afterall. I think he should just continue letting them self-destruct.

Although I have a theory; I fear this is all a Clinton effort. Let the left fracture the democrats and put Dean in charge of the DNC to continue building a party divide - opens up a slot for a 3rd party candidate (preferable strong on immigration methinks) to siphon enough votes for Hillary to get in. Thus, you get another Clinton in with less than 50%.

If anyone is an "occupying force" in this country it's the DimoWits and their occupation of any empty-headed, shallow or still-formative wo/man-child that's willing to swallow their tripe.

Until the last dem. is mired neck-deep in quag, let them be. It's not enough to read between the lines their intentions. Loud and frequent outbursts of desperate liberals is becoming good entertainment.

I think the soldiers, Iraqi's and everyone else in the world know how illegitimate the democrats are. I say let them keep digging the hole, by the time 2008 gets here they won't be able to climb out.

That's a possibility but equally possible is they get another Nader type instead which works for us.

If Im right the only other party to self destruct in US history were the Whig Party right? Man, the Rats are really trying to tie the record.

And what is up with their leadership? Pelosi and Reid are leading their troops off of a cliff, and they are about to give Dean command of their armies. They are all committing suicide. Its like Jonestown all over again!

Someone should take her "minority whip" away and just hand her a shovel.

Then again, he may have done it just to make her do it. It's not like Pelosi would ever take Newt's advice.

The rats just keep making the wrong moves. Maybe next year they will invite the French/German Ambassadors to provide commentary and rebuttal.

Maybe she will mention the "occupation" of Kosovo also.

The President back then said we would be home by Christmas, 1999.

Oh nevermind that was Clinton so that "occupation" is ok.

"The poor wide eyed fool could not resist, she just said it."

She sure did. Unbelievable. When some Freeper gets the video of her saying off of a terrorist website pleas e-mail the link to her.

He was "politely" warning all of us to watch for it. He knew NP would never listen to what he said.

Pelosi is part of the evil trio of liberal/commie chicks we are forever stuck with in California. To think that she would come to her senses and change her comments is just dreaming. They are all three an embarrassment to my state.
