Matthews: White House Staged Slain Marine Mom's Hug
NewsMax.com ^ | 2/3/05

MSNBC's "Hardball" host Chris Matthews suggested last night that the high point of President Bush's State of the Union Address - the emotional hug between grateful Iraqi voter Safia Taleb al-Suhail and Janet Norwood, mother of a Marine who died liberating her country - was staged by the White House.

The cynical host apparently first voiced his skepticism during a commercial break. His comments were immediately seized upon by "Hardball" guest, MSNBC contributor Pat Buchanan when the show returned.

Excerpt from the excerpt: "MATTHEWS: This is done so often, Pat. You are acting so naive about this. [END OF EXCERPT]"

I Must say Pat, you are acting naive and, if I might add, stupid about this. You should have called Matthews on his pettiness and asked him what difference it made whether the hug was sincere or staged then sat back and watch the piece of s*** spin in the wind.

Pat, you really have got to learn how to let these morons on the left hang themselves instead of trying to defend president Bush.
You should have asked Matthews what were his thoughts on Bush's points instead of allowing him to divert everyone's attention away from what Bush proposed.

The infamous Pat Buchanan, scourge of the 'neocon' community, stood up for the Administration? And on an issue involving the situation in Iraq?

Wonders never cease.

Don't forget those stone that just HAPPENED to be on that all sanded beach in Normandy that clintonboy placed into a cross. Lightning should have struck him for that hypocrisy and faux religiosity.

Why are Republicans obsessed with Chris Matthews? He's a light weight. I suppose focusing on Matthews is the same as focus on Kennedy. Both have crossed over the edge, so we use them to show how far the Dems and MSM have gone.

Still, I never watch Matthews. He isn't worth the effort. I think last exception I made was when Zell challenged him to duel. ;-)

The Dems insulted the parents of the fallen soldier. They insulted that soldier's memory. They insulted that brave young woman that risked her life to vote. It is THEY that are shamed today. So let the American people hear their commentary. If they wish to keep sliding further into irrelevancy it's their choice made of their own Free Will.

Breaking: Chris is a pedophile.

I have NO evidence...just wondering.

You're right. The serious of the charge itself should be more than enough, if you apply the same rules to the Left that they apply to us.

Tell Prissy Crissy that his whole life is staged.
So what ? if they wanted the IRAQ woman and the Marine's mother there at the speech, so what, so what if they hugged ? so what ?
I was so happy and proud of that IRAQ woman standing up, and showed her purple finger, and victory sign, it was clear she was shaking because she was nervous, but, I guess we all felt so proud of her. The big problem I have was those Democrats disrespectfully boooed President Bush while he was talking, that is so rude, I guess they are getting their training from the feminist and the gays, for being so disrespectful like that.

Chris Matthews ... didn't he cancel his show Sunday evening? Evidently the election in Iraq and all that indelible purple ink got to him ... not at all what he was expecting.

Chris Matthews is a product of Democratic Party deception and of course he would assume this moving human moment to be "contrived"

Freepers should stop watching Matthews. They're probably the only ones that do watch him and end up contributing to his dismal ratings. Matthews, like Imus, is so impressed with himself that it's unwatchable.

Oh course they know who is going to be up there, and of course they had the parents up there to represent the losses we have had in the WOT, specifically Iraq, Bush SAID THAT!!!! And of course they had the Iraqi woman up there because her father was killed by Hussein and she voted this past Sunday. Bush SAID THAT!!!!

He didn't know how the guests were going to react. I swear. I try very hard not to hate people, but I sure do HATE how they act.

And I sure am glad I don't have to live in their skin. Or world.

>>The serious of the charge itself should be more than enough>>

That is dangerous logic to even be toying with. Accusations can have no basis, yet ruin lives. Happens everyday in family court.

well duh! of course it was. are we supposed to think it happened by luck just as the camera was on them. what a non-story.

The hug was clearly spontaneous and not staged as any rational observer could see.

I could smell this statement coming from a mile away. Just a matter of time, and who, would make the statement that it was staged.

Well, putting both in the First Lady's booth was no accident, but the emotion shown by both was certainly not staged...if there's a person here that didn't at least get choke up, they have no soul.

My girlfriend and I were both crying on the couch during that whole deal, especially when we saw the President get tears in his eyes...

I don't know about that, but he admits he was a drunk. I just wonder if the was really is WAS of if he still is.

I think he and Kennedy both have pickled brains.

It was obvious that the mom was struggling and greiving. It was a great moment and I hope it gives her some peace.
