Haven't seen her after all. I'm still laughing about Wolfgang Puck...
To: JRandomFreeper
I was thinking along different lines...like too giggly. And the way she always says things like "YUM-O". But she makes some great stuff in 30 minutes!
To: cyborg
She would have been about as diplomatic, but a little bit more polite.
"It's nice that you two love each other. But my children do not need to be exposed to that at this point in their lives."
Then she would have rolled her eyes if the other chickie started crying in front of us...

Apparently they were gung ho to get a black conservative family one way or another... And then try to make fools of them. Very sad.
Unless it's something benign like Trading Spaces I would never go on TV. Even then, I'd probably get Doug and he'd do something hideous or paint or tear out something I told them not to touch.
To: valleygal
Or you'd get Hildy and she would glue feathers or hay to your walls.

Her husband was cracking up laughing. I don't think he could believe it, either.

re: Paula -- she cooks like my mom -- lots of butter, cream, etc., tasting and adding a little bit of this and that. My mother hardly ever used a recipe when we were all still at home.

I almost mentioned Hildy.
A felt covered dining room! And straw on the walls! It is all too obvious that she doesn't have kids. That straw episode would have been great if she was remaking the living spaces of, maybe, a COW!
I like Genevieve but that moss covered wall was too weird, as well.

My mother loves Jeopardy. :)

Then you must have eaten some awesome meals growing up :)

My husband is a chef and one of his coworkers knew people who worked with Emeril in the past. I heard the same thing- that he is a real PITA to deal with...and has a huge ego.
To: Selkie
crack is actually a rock, not a powder.
To: conservative cat
Star and celebrity chefs aren't that far from hollyweird actors in terms of ego I imagine.

I watch more intellignet , interesting things, like 24, and NCIS,even though those are just as staged. I love "24" too, but the nuclear plot they have now is just irresponsible. The scenario is totally impossible and unneccessarily scares the public about nuclear energy--which we need much, much, much more of ASAP.

I couldn't agree with you MORE. And, I agree the plot is totally impossible. it has been discussed at length, at the fox/24 site, of which I am a member. You are probably right, in that it is another ploy, to further add to the unwashed masses total disdain of nuclear power.
I have been interested in nuclear power, and weaponery, since I was about 8 years old. I know more about the inner workings of a nuclear warhead(non classified items, that is), than I do, about football or baseball. Probably less than 5% of the public knows what a nuclear primary is, what boosted fission, secondary, spark plug, tritium reservoir, or any other terms used in nuclear parlance mean, even though all of it is public domain.
I also think nuclear power is something we need more of. I wrote a short essay about the need for more nuclear power plants, in my senior year of high school(shortly before Chernobyl), and my position has only strengthened since that time. Nuclear power can be clean, efficient, and above all SAFE.
I saw the fallacy of the plot early on. ANYTHING that could be done remotely, to a nuclear plant, (which is pretty much impossible, anyway), could be countered, by the operators at the plant. If, somehow, the order came for the computer to shut off the primary or secondary cooling systems, the operators, could manually override the computer, or activate the emergency cooling system, and manually drop the control rods all the way, to totally kill the reaction, and any threat of meltdown. Unfortunately, most people do not know this, and on the 24 site, a LOT of people are worried, that it could happen in reality.
