yahoo.com, whitehouse.gov

Posted on 02/17/2005 6:55:00 PM PST by rintense

President Bush nominated John Negroponte today to be the new Director of National Intelligence. Negroponte is the former ambassador to Iraq. The First Couple also hosted Paul Rusesabagina and his wife, Tatiana. Mr. Rusesabagina sheltered refugees in a Rwandan hotel where he worked as a manager, and was the subject of the movie, 'Hotel Rwanda'. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Keep your finger on the trigger, Wolfstar, we may need you later.

Troll's already gone. FReepers My2Cents, onyx and a few others used to actually gang up on trolls early last year as the presidential primary season got under way. We actually organized some threads as bait, then had the greatest time controlling the threads for hours, and arguing most trolls to a standstill.

Well, me too! I hope I'll have half that much brain left.

Take a look at this one. (I didn't take it through the window, so I can't explain the bright spots......kinda eerie....

The bump on the ground behind the deck is our dear, departed Christmas tree, which we have not yet disposed of!

Good night all........off to sleep in a Winter Wonderland!

Late last night someone posted the following link. Copied the material off and didn't read it until this morning. Then I couldn't find the thread it was posted on...It has some of the most detailed background information on Syria that I've ever read and thought someone here might be interested.

Syrian background

I believe he is a Greek-American but an Italian type name...

Ah, that makes sense. In truth, the Mediterranean peoples have been mixing since pre-history. Then, when the barbarians sacked Rome, they also mixed with the local population. My father's father was born in Italy and was Italian through and through. But he had red hair, blue eyes, and a red moustache, which means Northern Europeans were somewhere in his ancestry.

Good evening hoosiermama! I would love to read that info on Syria, but I can't get that link to work. Do you have another way to find it?

Don't be sorry. I'm just having a little mischievous fun. In truth, it's best to get rid of trolls ASAP on a social thread like this.

Nice pictures. Did I read earlier that you learned to do this tonight?

You're a quick study!

I love the expressiveness of GWB's face. Everyday there's something new to see. There is absolutely no artifice in the man at all.

These are easy even if you're tired. Keep in mind that as a rule I don't measure. :-)

Melt a good blob of butter (about 1/4 stick) in a frying pan on med-high to high. When it's melted, add enough pork chops for your family. I prefer boneless porkchops. Let the pork chops cook till they're nicely browned (probably 7-10 minutes/side, depending on if the Dose is up and how many posts you have to read thru).

Meanwhile, dissolve 2-3 bullion cubes in a cup of water (I heat it in a 1-cup measure--less dishes to wash--in the microwave for 30 seconds so it doesn't boil over but gets hot enough to dissolve while you're posting.)

When the porkchops are browned, take them out and put them on a plate. Add the dissolved bullion, plus another cup or so of water, to the pan you were cooking the chops in. Let it boil for a few minutes till it boils down a little--long enough to 1. check if the dose is up or 2. post back to someone.

Now you have to stick around the stove for awhile.

Add about a cup of sour cream to the pan with the bullion and melted butter. Also add about 2 tablespoons of mustard, dijonaise or grainy mustard if you have it. Whisk it all together. Taste to see if you want to add more sour cream or mustard. Add a little garlic if you like garlic. When it tastes good, add the pork chops along with any juice on the plate. Turn the chops over so the sauce covers them. Simmer for 10 minutes or so to be sure the chops are cooked thru.

Serve, or cover and leave on low--it's OK to let them simmer for quite awhile; they'll just get more tender.

And that's it!

To further impress your family, make some broccoli or a veggie.

Hope you enjoy it!
