Agreed, especially with Pootie Poot the KGB agent running the show.

**IIRC, Vice President Cheney stated exactly the opposite of this article's premise in a recent interview. He's here for the duration.**

Absolutely look what he said at CPAC on Thursday, plus look at the photo of him he hardly looks ill does he.

"""All of us know there is much yet to do, and you can be certain that President Bush and I are eager for the work ahead. On his behalf, I want to thank our many friends gathered here tonight. We are deeply grateful for your support, and for the high honor of serving the American people for four more years.

Thank you very much."""

Saggy old Fritz looked long in the tooth the last time he appeared in public. You may recall he stepped forward to take Wellstone's place in the Minnesota senate race won by Norm Coleman. Someone in the WSJ wrote that Mondale, sporting enormous eyeglasses at the time, looked a bit like Junior Soprano.

**It seems to me that a switch from Sec of State to VP is a demotion in many ways. Bush needs Rice in her current spot.**

I agree and if she wants to run in 08 she will be more in the spolight at Sec of State than VP.

**Junk rumors. Cheney isn't going anywhere and I'm getting tired of people trying to push him out the way they do Rummy. I can understand Libs wanting him out of the way, but conservatives need to stop allowing political analysis (IMO analysis that is on shaky ground) from influencing what is best for this country. Cheney is a wonderful VP and he's not going anywhere. IF Condi runs for President, she doesn't need VP to give her clout. **

I could not agree more the rumours need to ignored and treated with contempt they are rubbish and have no validity. To say otherwise both the President and VP are lying in recent interviews when they mention 4 more years as a team.

They already hate her guts.

They hate women no matter what they do.

Please specify which "they" you are referencing.

How much different was Maggi Thatcher?

Prime Minister Thatcher had President Reagan to lean on and help stiffen her spine, as well as a supportive husband and family.

See #112 for the history of VPs winning the Presidency..It is no real leg up..I left out VP Mondale..who also lost to Reagan.

"As much as I like Dr. Rice, I do not want to see Dick Cheney step down, nor do I want a woman for our President."

Why not a woman for President??

Terrorists, and other countries who do not respect women. If you don't want a woman to be president just say so. We'd disagree but brining up the opinions of societies that don't respect women anyway isn't a good reason why she shouldn't be president.

**"They" had better be ready for an answer. If Cheney steps down in favor of Rice then the next two years will be filled with stories of how he was forced from office. **

The press both the left and right would have a field day even those that are constantly shouting health reasons re Cheney suddenly this would be a non issue and it would all be how he was stabbed in the back etc.

Cheney will remain.

Because some people don't think it's appropriate. I don't see a few kinds of people being elected right now, a woman and a single man.

I keep waiting for specifics on Rice's position on abortion, etc.

Otherwise, I think this (Cheney stepping down in favor of a likely presidential successor) is probably best, much as I like him.

See 112...Why is it best? Add Mondale to the losing VP list, too.

Cheney is a terrific VP..

I did.

brining up the opinions of societies that don't respect women anyway isn't a good reason why she shouldn't be president.

Anything done by America or Americans which emboldens our enemies, be they cultural, economic or military, is a very bad thing.
