Tech help? LU1848: Couldn't create callback object
02/19/05 | BOBWADE

I use norton antivirus and just noticed that it did not load an update for the ids program. It shows an error message "LU1848: Couldn't create callback object" and has the red x next to the IDS Program Updates. Anyone know what is going on. My subscription doesn't run out until December. Any advice would be appreciated.

Is the site working? I'd try it again, and if no luck, email them. You might have to uninstall norton, then reinstall, but I'd check with them first.

I had a similar problem. If you go to the symantec website there should be instructions on how to fix this. I believe that I had to delete all of the live update files and that didn't solve my problem. I ended up removing norton and then deleteing all the left over files from my hard drive and then I reinstalled norton and it has been fine ever since. Kind of a pain in the you know what though.

1) uninstalled liveupdate
2) deleted the whole of the liveupdate dir , and the bit in common files (you mite need to reboot b4 u can do this step)
3) download the liveupdate from >>HERE<< or extract the new beta version from NAV 2k5 and re-install it.

thats it , thats how i fixed me problem wiv "LU1848: Couldn't create callback object"

When requesting technical help, you should always include your OS (Windows version?), system specs, etc.

Error: "LU1848: Couldn't create callback object"

Which version? Is this the beta?

If so, some people have had some problems to the extent that they have had to totally uninstall (and then delete all temp files and folders and find all of the various user's program info folders) and then reinstall.

If it is not the beta, then I have no advice.

I had a similar problem, I couldn't fix it, until I reinstalled the whole Norton Antivirus.

You may try that.

Now that I have the real XPSP2 and the new MS spyware with updates, Norton's constant pop-ups reminding me that my unidentified 1 year subscription that died with the old hard drive shows up as an expired trial version are the only pop-ups I get.

Try as I might, I can't get it to go away and stay away.

The opposite of EGOS.
