Why did Jeb lead the charge/assault against Ward Connerly and his anti-racial preferences referendum in FL?

Nice fact twist. Anti-affirmative action was his claim to fame and they both rejoiced in the loud opposition.

As for "charge/assault", either I missed that episode or 2001 (when OneFlorida was in its hayday and Kalifornica businessman Connerly was making noise) had an overshadowing news happenstance.
