We live in the Metroplex and one of our sons and his family lives in Lubbock so we're out that way a lot. My wife and I were raised in eastern New Mexico. I loved it out there (the sky just seems a lot bigger) but she prefers the Metroplex.

So it likely was on the Tohaka Highway, (US 67?). I spent 11 years in Lubbock between my time at Reese AFB and Texas Tech. One of the best places to watch stars. It was also the first place I'd ever been dark enough that you can actually see the Milky Way.

I like his music. He's actually a friend of a family member, but I've yet to have the good fortune to meet him. Maybe someday.

Actually it Hwy 84. It does get dark out there. I was raised in Lovington, NM. At night out in the country you could see lights of Lovington, Hobbs, Denver City and Seminole. Reminds me of the Guy Clark song, The Dark. It's got a couple of great lines in it.

"Dark enough to smell the moon."

"So dark you can see Fort Worth from here."

We lived in Plano for a while and just moved to a new house in Rockwall last summer. We may have met at the get-together for JR at Cozymel's last year.

He might have lived across the street from me. There was a party in the house and I went over to get my dog out and they invited me to stay.

It was the promo party for the Los Gonzo band's first album. About all I remember is sharing a bottle of mescal with an old wino. I didn't know he was Willie Nelson until the next evening when the lady who lived there thanked me for taking care of his girlfriend. But that was Austin in the 70s.

Yup, sounds like the Austin that I remember. Grew up in Victoria, not far from there. Visited a friend one weekend, the first night 3 raccoons opened his screen door, came in and proceeded to eat some dogfood in his kitchen.

Turns out, they were regulars. I REALLY needed another beer after that.
