Mexican president announces initiative for North American cooperation
Fort Worth Star-Telegram/AP ^ | March 16, 2005 | John Rice

MEXICO CITY - The leaders of the United States, Mexico and Canada, confronting the growth of rival groups in Europe and Asia, hope to strengthen their free-trade pact by signing an "Initiative for North America" next week in Texas, Mexico President Vicente Fox said Wednesday.

But Fox made clear that tensions remain over how to secure the countries' borders, criticizing new U.S. walls running along parts of its 2,000-mile frontier with Mexico. "No country that is proud of itself should build walls," he said.

Fox, President Bush and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin are scheduled to meet March 23 at Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch during Bush's Easter vacation.

. . . .

Speaking at a news conference with U.S. and Canadian reporters, Fox vowed to take legal action against migrant-hunting vigilantes in Arizona and promised to fight terrorism.

. . .

But in both Spanish and English, Fox repeatedly expressed concern about state initiatives to limit rights of migrants and services for them in the United States, and about the U.S. government's effort to slow migration by building walls.

"We are convinced that walls don't work. They should be torn down," Fox said. He called the walls "discriminatory; they attack liberty. So no country that is proud of itself should build walls. Nobody can isolate himself these days."

. . .

He said Mexicans "totally reject" the migrant hunters recently formed in Arizona to help stem the illegal crossings there, which have risen partly because of the construction of walls elsewhere. The vigilantes "are completely in violation of American law itself and in violation of laws anywhere," Fox said.

He said Mexico "will be very alert to react legally against any lawbreaking" by those groups, either under U.S. or international law.

It's no just Illegals on Mexico's Southern Border that demonstrates the hypocrisy of this Weasel. Ever try importing something into Mexico - Something that isn't for assembly and re-export back to us that is?

Mr. Bush, listen up this guy is a liar and a cheat and is up to no good.

He is attempting to use you like a crutch and will succeed if you are wooed by his siren song.

There is nothing to be gained by these "good old boy meetings" and is sure to only engender less respect for this nation as the world sits by and observes our leader being hornswaggled by this peon president and are laughing up their sleeve that a cheap carney schill like Fox is able to achieve by his mouthings and worthless threats what the rest of the world and the U.N. cannot accomplish through all the efforts of their sophisticated world class thugs and thieves!

Mr. Bush why don't you just forego this meeting, go fishing and in so doing benefit us all?

No thank you!

Join me in praying that our President does not make any statements denouncing our patriots at this March 23 meeting.

Would that be President Fox or President Bush? It's getting hard for me to tell who's who these days.

Why don't we just annex Mexico.

Because then we'd have responsibility for ALL the Mexicans, not just the ones that have made it across the putative border.

I have no clue what power Fox has over Bush.

As an American it truly embarrasses me and I feel shame and an abandonment by my President.

If he does I would predict that his administration just for all practicality ended.

Not to mention he is endorsing the Law Of The Sea treaty, something Reagan fended off. Sadly the Senate is about to pass this POS.

There should be no doubt to the Presidents commitment to Globalism, if this treaty is ratified, and he continues to leave our borders wide open.

Fox shrugged aside recent Mexican irritation at U.S. comments about security and corruption in Mexico, painting a rosy picture of relations between the countries.

"It's difficult to say that it's better than ever, because it's been so good that reaching a higher level is not easy," he said.

Fox said he would discuss ways to create a legal, orderly, dignified migration system with President Bush, whose immigration reform proposals have met heavy resistance in Congress.
