Waiting for House bill now. Dems delayed and they are waiting for a quorum of 218 members. A roll call vote will be done at 12:01 a.m. Monday.

The SEnate has Passed the Terri Shiavo LAW.

It is not a law yet. It is a bill until the president signs it.

I've got it on good faith that the President will sign it into law.

Actually, the law does not call for the reinsertion of Terri's feeding tube - it calls for a Federal judicial review of her case to see if any violation of her due process rights have been violated, and the law assumes the judge will reinsert the tube as she has to be alive for the case to be reviewed. It also will be in the same court in Florida, but will be handled by a Federal judge in that court. At least that is how I am understanding this law, but I could be mistaken.

The Senate passed the bill by unanimous voice vote. The House has not passed the bill since a few democrats opposed it earlier today. The House is reconvening at midnight tonight, and if they have a quorum of 218, they will be able to pass it and send it to the President.

But this bill only gives standing to Terri's parents in Federal Court. Federal judges will need to review the case and overturn or stay the FLA court judge's order. Her parent's lawyer has teed up the Federal court to be ready to act as soon as the bill is signed. At least that's my understanding.
