And that, FRiends, is called an admission of perjury.
I don't care how much this man's conscience is bothering him. Her parents are willing to be guardians...err on the side of LIFE!
When he decided to become engaged to another woman and have children with her (oh, so sad, "they weren't getting any younger") his protestations that he loves Terri and respects her wishes lost any and all credibility. That's that. Divorce her and let those who truly love her care for her for the rest of her natural life, for God's sake!
Why did it take 8 years for Mr Schiavo to bring up this no life support?????????????

I'm listening to CNN and this is making me ill.
Let's see. One side can just walk away. The other side cannot walk away without losing everything they value. Seems kind of clear who the villian is in this drama. Mike can just walk away. It is only his arrogant refusal to allow the parents to step in and take over the care of Terry that causes this crisis. Real simple answer Mike. Just walk away and let the parents take over instead of clinging with a chidlish arrogance to your own ego driven desire to posture, wrongfully, as some sort of Media "hero". The parent's cannot walk away, you can. Be a man for once in your life Mikey. Walk away rather then insisting on your own ego driven desire to impose YOUR will on everyone else.
Don't foget the fact that he never once mentioned her supposed desire to "die rather than live like that" until AFTER the $1 million malpractice settlement.
Regardless of whether he's telling the truth, I refuse to accept that the statement of one person, so unquestionably biased, can be the basis to put another human being to death.
The issue is not whether Mr. Schiavo is lying. Quite possibly, Terri had said that she would rather die than live incapacitated. Many did. I know that I did. It is a natural human reaction, when facing someone severely disabled to say "I'd rather die. If I ever get like that, kill me".
Terri's wish, expressed while she was healthy and young, not put to writing, not listing the specific level of disability that should trigger an assisted suicide, not listing the manner of execution -- is not binding.
Mr. Schiavo may be a misguided creep, or he may be a lying creep. His motivation could come from inability to comprehend Christian ethics, or from, -- just speculating here, -- a fear that Terri speaks one day and shatters the myth of his being a faithful executor of her hypothetical, privately communicated to him, living will.
Can you love someone enough to fight tooth and nail to make sure that their wishes are fulfilled, yet not love them enough to remain at least publicly faithful to them? Everything in this article says how much Michael loves Terri, but he doesn't love her enough to remain faithful to her. I understand that people get lonely and beaten down by situations like this, but if that happens the best way to show the disabled spouse some respect would be to divorce her, not make a mockery of your marriage vows.
One could still commit malpractice even when the cause of the accident is attempted murder as opposed to an accident.
I would rather have gone to heaven 15 years ago, then to remain in a persistent vegetative state.

Who says he's getting death threats? The article makes the statement without even a source let alone any kind of evidence.
Maybe the folks who call him a murderer are a little strong, but what do you call a "husband" who lives with another woman and fathers two children with her -- AND spends $440,000 of therapy money on right-to-die lawyers. These folks aren't far off.
You know, it's embarassing to see Freepers calling somebody a murderer with absolutely no proof.
If Mike walks away and lets the parents take over, Terry lives. His arrogant refusal to just walk away means Terry dies. What part of that do you not understand?
It is embarassing to see Freepers who refuse to confront uncomfortable facts because they do not conform to their own personal whimsy.
You won't dispute he is trying to off her now, would you?
It bears on the entire question of whether or not she would ever ask to be killed -- her parents and her church say otherwise. Such a request is out of character for a devout and practicing Catholic. It places a whole heap of doubt on the man who stands to gain by her death.
