Pinellas Park police Lt. Kevin Riley, standing upper right, prepares to arrest members of the Keys family as they were attempting to bring Terri Schiavo water Wednesday morning, March 23, 2005 outside the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. The Keys family, of Burnet, Tex., kneeling, from left, Josie, 14, Gabriel, 10, Chris, the children's father, and Cameron 12, were all taken into custody. Galen Keys, upper left, the children's mother looks on, but was not arrested. The mother insists it was the children's idea: "I am proud of them," said the boys' mother Geilen Keys from Texas, who was not arrested. "They are very mature and they said 'we want to go and offer some water to Terri'."

Pinellas Park police Lt. Kevin Riley, second from left, handcuffs 14-year-old Josie Keys, left, while Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies place her father Chris in the back of a van after arresting members of the family for trespassing Wednesday morning March 23, 2005 outside the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Fla. The family members were attempting to bring Terri Schiavo a cup of water.

Gabriel Keys (foreground) is arrested by police officers for trespassing in Pinellas Park, Florida, March 23, 2005. The young protester attempted to take a glass of water into the Woodside Hospice for the brain-damaged Terri Schiavo. A federal judge rejected a request from the parents of Schiavo to order her feeding tube reinserted, dealing a blow to attempts by the U.S. Congress and the White House to prolong her life.

EITHER mister Bush could use their EXECUTIVE ORDER powers to STABILIZE her with an I-V for the few days it takes this matter of the feeding tube, and for the motions to allow FEEDING BY MOUTH to run the gammet thru the supreme court.

Where is the ACLU to protect these children? Oh wait...

You mean, the Anti-Christian Liberties Union?
The American Communist Liberties Union?
The American Criminal Liberties Union?
The Arctic Caribou Liberties Union?

Did you hear Rush's question to some Lib caller this morning, who ranted on about this all being "a play to the religious right" (and BTW, those who REALLY care about their loved ones, as Frankenschiavo claims to do, aren't going to rail about pandering to the religious right)? Rush's question was,

"Those of you on the Left, who want Terri to die, is it because Christian conservatives want her to live?"

...they're too young to understand the "statement" they're making?

Those children are old enough to understand the concept of being sentenced to death by dehydration. Everyone knows thirst. This is not a complex issue. In fact, you'll find that young children easily understand abortion, too--it's murder. Only if brainwashed by narcissistic members of the Culture of Death into believing that it's okay to kill out of hedonistic convenience can anyone of any age support murder.

The kids are being used.

If you love your kids, YOU do the protesting for them. A parent letting their child go to jail to prove a point? Completely asinine.

You know, I've heard that in courthouses and jails, bad things happen. Thats right, criminals steal the guns from little old lady cops and shoot them and the judge. Men AND women get raped (sometimes by the people guarding them!). People get knifed and the medical treatment isn't exactly top-knotch from what I hear.
So its right to let your own kids face that to prove a point? Its wrong, and cowardly, and friggin stupid.

Can't really say this is the beginning of killing the disabled and elderly -- but it is the beginning of taking a stand against it.

"All I can say is these kids have feelings for another human being who is dying and tried to help. And that makes them heros in my books."

Amen to that! At least they're not sitting around planning the next school shooting, or looking for whoever's selling meth this week. Beautiful kids, these.

"What a courageous and heroic family. Those children now know more about how our government really works than any high school civics teacher.

Right on.

When I was a kid my mom would drag me to Chavez grape boycotts, she gave me a sign that said something about children suffering because non-union workers were picking grapes. While THAT may have been somewhat exploitive (they were HER words, not mine) it was great lesson to me in morality and politics. I have always been an activist of one kind or another.

There are a lot of armchair blowhards on both sides here. But being willing to stand up for what you believe sets these people a world apart, and God Bless them. Protesting for what you believe, and being willing to risk arrest is a demonstration of true compassion, indeed.

Watching these people come out for something they believe so strongly, a clear moral issue, and symbolism of having children arrested for bring the woman a glass of water is moving.

The photograph of young Gabriel Keys is so powerful that it should be on the cover of every newspaper in the country tomorrow - but since it shows the religious right as the MSM doesn't want the world to see them, I expect you won't see much of this.

This story also demonstrates how the right has taken full control of the moral high ground.

My 10 year old daughter said the most heartfelt and precious prayer for Terri yesterday...she brought me to tears!

She also said "Let's go take her some water mom" She doesn't realize how far away Florida is from us in Colorado, but she understands it's wrong to let Terri die from dehydration!!

I have mixed feelings about this incident.

I think we need to have a certain degree of respect for the laws that are passed. But at the same time, I can't imagine having to explain to my children (if I had any) that they have to respect a system that would starve an innocent woman.

I guess if kids are going to get themselves arrested then this is more desirable to killing 14 people in their school or murdering their parents with a hatchet.

I'm glad that these kids had the guts to take a stand for what's right, and that their parents are supportive of them.

You know, I think that the police are going to be very careful in this situation and I bet those kids are treated just fine. The cops know that all eyes are on them. I wouldn't want my kids in that situation either because I would worry about what 'might' happen to them but I believe that this case is a little bit different.

The words of The Lord actually do mean something. Heaven forbid this family, their children, actually believe and act upon something said by The Lord.

John 15:12-13

12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

------

Matthew 25:31-46

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and yebgave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or thirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Will Mr. Schiavo be arrested for committing a misdemeanor of the second degree, that being living in open adultery, when he shows up?

So they should be old enough to understand that there was no possible way that they would have actually been able to give Terri water.

These kids seem to have better morals, more compassion, and more ethics than a lot of adults in Free Republic.
