What will a MRI show? I can't think on one instance where an MRI would help in this case. Please explain?

Or, even better, we can starve her to death, because we wouldn't want to live like that, and in the end, that's all that matters, right? It's all about what we want, the rights of others and the sanctity of life be damned.

"I'll tell you this rush to kill her is really unseemly."

She's been in this state for 15 years. There's no rush to kill her, there's just a bunch of people trying to drag it out for another 15 years.

When, just when, did we become a country that values life so little?

When we passed Roe v Wade

Actually it's probably more like the worm in a Tequila bottle.

Be sure you make informed choices before you mark 'X' in the box. And, you need to name someone to be your Proxy, the one who will convey your wishes. The paper is not a magic solution, however; it does not make it all as simple as you might think. Personally, I would choose 'full code' and life support until damage is certified as irreversible. Life support can keep you going through trauma until other measures can be taken.

Let's keep her alive against her wishes

Oh, and what are "her wishes"? Are you a telepath? Please tell us. OH WAIT scratch that what number am I thinking of? I can't wait to see your powers in action!

Let's pat ourselves on the back for each hour we can extend her agony.

What the hell are you talking about? What "agony"?

Isn't she a vegetable with no sentience or consciousness? Vegetables feel no "agony".

You wouldn't be falling into self-contradiction now would you? No, no one with as much truth on his side as you do would contradict himself so readily.

I'll tell you this rush to kill her is really unseemly.

Doctors recommended, in 1993, that the feeding tube be removed.

This is hardly a rush.

hey, I care about this case. I hope you mean that in a nice way and not an antagonizing way. I like what you all are trying to do and I want to be involved. I admit I was imaature, but I shouldn't be shunned for who I am.

It's hypocrisy of the highest order for them to pretend they fully understand how the brain works and what Terry's absolute condition is.

Hits the nail on the head, right here.

She's had a CT scan but never - not once - a PET scan or an MRI. Which are usually used to diagnose PVS.

I highly recommend that CodeBlue blog link up above. An illuminating expert discussion of the scans involved.

We didn't pass Roe v. Wade, it was foisted on us out of thin air by 7 judges.

March 23, 2005 Affidavit:

A Neurologist from the state of Florida William Polk Cheshire, Jr. MD

-snip-

..."Based on the evidence, I believe that, within a reasonable degree of medical certainty, there is a greater likelihood that Terri is in a minimally conscious state than a persistent vegetative state. This distinction makes a enormous difference in making ethical decisions on Terri's behalf. If Terri is sufficiently aware of her surroundings that she can feel pleasure and suffer; if she is capable of understanding to some degree how she is being treated, then in my judgment it would be wrong to bring about her death by withdrawing food and water."

The right decision has been made....her decision.

And you have the documents signed by Terri Schiavo specifying her wishes, notarized and appropriately filed? In short, all the things that make such a document legally binding? If so, you'd better get them to the proper authorities quickly so the controversy surrounding this case can be settled.

What's that, you don't have them? Well, then, it's just as I thought, you're blowing it out...
