Marines always treat corpsmen as brothers

Almost always. Sometimes not. The few that didn't never changed my views of the many that did. I never saw combat, but I was responsible for the health of many in my platoon. 81mm mortars, Weapons Co. 2/3 KMCAS BTW - I like your handle.

I've got to admit, I've got a soft spot in my heart for corpsmen....

My uncle was a conscientious objector during the early 60's and became a Navy Corpsman.... he saw more combat than all my other uncles except my pop.

a corpsman saved my dad's life during an ambush in Chu Li..........some of the guys in my dad's platoon told me my dad was sticking his leg back on and giving cover fire for his LT and radio operator who set off a booby trap...corpsman knocked him down, started an IV ... He got sent to the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi and I got to see a bunch of guys whose lives were saved by corpsmen, chopper pilots with brass balls, quick work by field surgeons and a really sharp vascular surgeons in the Philippines.

I heard stories for 26 months at the NAS about corpsmen.... so I know that corpsmen can be turds and some Marines can be turds... but I like to tell my son that there are still heroes around...

You must have been around a bunch of POGs. Grunts always took care of their Docs.

I served in the Army and in the Navy (Honorable Discharges from both, BTW) and the insults traded with members of other branches were always friendly. At least that was my experience. We always knew we were on the same team.

Good for your uncle, the conscientious objectors that had the balls to serve their country are the real heros, not the professional army. I have more respect for those people than anyone.

Just loose their shot records and you can straighten them out.

Now why would you try to have us believe a soldier would give a marine a hard time?

As an Army MP patrolling DLI Monterey I was dispatched to the NCO Club for a disturbance. IE bar fight, As we entered the club I saw several Army Special Forces and several Marines kicking the tar out of each other.

A Marine Gunny walked up and asked if I wanted it stopped. I said yes. The damn Gunny turned around, Said "Attention" and it was like Moses parting the Red Sea.

The Marines stopped in a split second and snapped to attention, one in mid punch. Damned thing I ever saw in 7+ yrs as an MP.

The only 2 to get put in cuffs that night were an Army SFC and his punk CPL.

I have consistently stated that I was treated well by the Marines and that I have great respect for marines. More respect for them then my sailor brothers.

Why? Not because the Navy gave me any cause to lose respect, but because, other than boot-camp, and Corps school, I spent my entire time with the Marines.

My only knowledge of ship-board life comes from Hunt for Red October :-)
