The case in question is where Senator mcConnell and others took Campaign Finance Reform to the SC because it unconstitutionally
bans certain groups from speaking out in federal elections for up to 60 days beforehand. The SC has always before upheld the people's right to speak out.

In this case, in the majority opinion, they said (and I paraphrase) that because of the possible appearance of corruption in campaigns, to avoid even the appearance of undue influence of money, it trumped free speech. And even then, the campaigns found ways around it (Moveon.org, etc.) So the SC judges squelched free speech FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OUR HISTORY--admittedly and knowingly because they thought that was better than the appearance of possible corruption.

What might they decide trumps some of our other rights in future, and what rights? I don't care diddley about evolving codes of decency in Europe or what their standards are. Nothing should supercede our Constitution in decisions of the court.

If you can't see that as more than grumpiness that our side lost, take another look.

Why does everyone continue to tiptoe around the elephant in the living-room here. The fact is that at least two of those five judges, who are using the Constitution for a floormat, were appointed by GOP presidents.

A 6-3 conservative Court would certainly be a blessing. I am holding my breath to see how things develope.

I pray every American will be awakened and realize our Supreme Court is chipping away at the very foundation this Great Nation is built upon.

"...trampled states rights..." That had been abrogated by Dhimmicrats, working as proponents of a vile institution (the more things change...), who chose to use political power to first attempt to expand the institution, then chose to render asunder the fabric of the land and the people in their persistance. They therefore had to be - and Were!!! - stopped.

Two points for thee to ponder: we can take this to one of many Civil War threads, and finally a question: if the South was destroyed as you say, then why is our conservative heart - perhaps even as the current struggle for our Nation's soul plays out in the coming days - found to be beating strongest in the South? I don't know how you may respond, but for my part, it seems that something "destroyed" could not then be alive, much less have enough vitality to act as the bulwark (within the busom of its people) of successfully fending off this latest threat to our Constitution.

For BillyBob - excellent speech. I've missed your thoughts here on Freep. God Bless.

It occurs to me that the Internet, and more specifically this website, has become a colonial tavern. It was in the taverns that our founding fathers came together with their contemporaries and neighbors to discuss the issues of the day to hone their debates and refine their political perspectives. We lost that intimacy between community leaders and "yeomen" probably about the time the radio was introduced. The Internet is bringing us back together and I swear I see it beginning to make a difference.

There is still hope for U.S. People like you prove it.

bump. A lot os this depends not on a lawyer, now, but on a doctor--Frist. I've been very uneasy at his apparent timidity. I do hope he can work up the passion to take on the Filibuster.
