A DAY WITHOUT ILLEGAL ALIENS -- HOW ABOUT 365?--1 down, 364 to go...
California gets taste of life without immigrant workers --We passed the test, they can all go back home now.
It appears that the nationwide strike by illegal immigrants and their supporters caused some headaches but little immediate economic impact, as outside of Denver, Chicago, and Los Angeles...However, in a story that will likely have immigration hardliners talking for days, the AP reports that twenty-five percent of the children in the Los Angeles School District failed to attend classes today. After all, LAUSD's annual budget for its 746,000 students is over $13 billion, or about $17,000 per student. If the walkout caused 25% of the students to strike, that puts the annual educational cost for illegal immigrants at around $3.25 billion -- just for Los Angeles.
You can bet that a lot of people will do precisely these kinds of calculations nationwide. How many students walked out in Chicago? In Houston? In Denver? One of the reasons why illegal immigrants existed in the shadows was to avoid this kind of exposure, but that's no longer operative.
...the spectacle of illegal immigrants demanding that Americans capitulate to their agenda only strengthens the opponents to the administration's approach. Time Magazine explains:
Rassmussen notes; a majority of respondents disapprove of immigration protestors and over two-thirds oppose full amnesty, one of the key demands. Hot Air has ongoing field reports here.
One problem I continue to have with this issue is that it's being cast as solely a controversy over amnesty. In my book, this isn't the case.
It's a national security problem.
SECURE THE BORDERS.
Once we've done that, then we can debate amnesty, immigration reform, etc. all people want.
What is clear is that they have NO RESPECT for America or Americans...
It was a great boycott if you compare a mapping of Non-Citizens against a mapping of the last two Presidential elections
Here there is almost a 1 to 1 corelation.
...the placards screaming get rid of the border won't play to well in DC.
just remember as we have been discussing the upholstery on the deck chairs for these last several weeks 30,000 more of our friends have come to say hello permanently.

Now the 20+ million feel that we have "let them come in" so they deserve full bennies including citizenship. Mexico "leftist" to push US on immigration reform--To build an economy it takes capital investment. Investors of capital expect some return, not a confiscation of property as just done to the Natural Gas fields in Bolivia. (4 foreign companies "robbed", oil fields taken that the government cannot operate alone.) These corrupt officials get elected by an ignorant electoral by "offers" of entitlement. Someone should inform these masses, they are destroying THEMSELVES. The May Day protests by activists for illegal immigrants have resulted in an utterly predictable backlash, according to the Washington Post. Voters have sent bricks to their Congressional representatives as donations for a border barrier, and even those who considered themselves liberals want the government to start rounding up illegals and send them packing:
Congressional leaders in Washington have gotten bricks in the mail from a group that advocates building a border fence, states in the West and South have drawn up tough anti-immigrant laws, and ordinary citizens, such as Janis McDonald of Pennsylvania, who considers herself a liberal, are not mincing words in expressing their displeasure.
"Send them back," McDonald said. "Build a damn wall and be done with it."
International ANSWER, the prime mover behind yesterday's boycott, doesn't care for the illegals as much as they want shock troops for the revolution. Unfortunately for ANSWER, that agenda did not subtly work itself into the protests but instead erupted in Che Guevara t-shirts and demands for "one hemisphere". ANSWER tried to pass out enough American flags to cover its tracks, but the effort fell short -- and now Americans, both native-born and legally admitted, have become fed up with protests by its uninvited guests. He also had the endorsements of the ruling politicians in both parties who were similarly pandering to this presumedly huge voting block (Herndon was 26% Hispanic). The only thing he missed was the wishes of a big majority of the people, who threw him and his Council buddies out on their butts.

The Gangster Disciples, Latin Kings and Vice Lords were born decades ago in Chicagos most violent neighborhoods. Now, their gang graffiti is showing up 6,400 miles away in one of the worlds most dangerous neighborhoods Iraq.
Armored vehicles, concrete barricades and bathroom walls all have served as canvasses for their spray-painted gang art. At Camp Cedar II, about 185 miles southeast of Baghdad, a guard shack was recently defaced with GDN for Gangster Disciple Nation, along with the gangs six-pointed star and the word Chitown, a soldier who photographed it said.
The graffiti, captured on film by an Army Reservist and provided to the Chicago Sun-Times, highlights increasing gang activity in the Army in the United States and overseas, some experts say.

I saw A LOT of this. People---almost invariably kids---hiding their faces like urban stagecoach tilters. What is the deal with this? If conservatives marched in such numbers and elements of the marchers hid their faces like this, the media and the Left would be apoplectic with fear and accusations of looming fascist tyranny.

The backlash against the immigration demonstrations continues as the strident language of activists has provoked some anger from the African-American community, which sees few parallels between their struggle as American citizens and the demands of illegal aliens for amnesty from prosecution and deportation. The New York Times reports that a broad swath of the Democratic Party's most important demographic component has grown increasingly hostile towards an amnesty on the basis of civil rights:

Washington Offers No Solutions--the two issues that best illustrate this recognition are reaching critical mass at virtually the same time. In the past few weeks, Americans have tasted the bitter fruit of both the negligence in protecting the nations borders and the lack of a worthwhile energy policy, and the consequent skyrocketing of gasoline prices. Mondays mass protests by open borders advocates, while hardly crippling the country as their planners had hoped, nevertheless demonstrated the presence of an increasingly coordinated and belligerent potential army massing within this nations boundaries.

You know, it takes about 3 mouse clicks to uncover the fact that theses "immigrant rights" rallies are backed by the same group (ANSWER) that's behind the antiwar protests, as well as providing one of Saddam's main defense attorneys. If I can uncover this connection in a matter of minutes in my spare time, I'm going to assume that "journalists" working for major media outlets can do the same. Am I the only one wondering why they aren't reporting on it? (Yes, that was a rhetorical question). |

The more I think about the immigration situation the madder I get. I'm mad that I'm too busy earning a living and raising a family to go to protests and rallies, unlike all the freeloading illegals and liberals. I'm mad that my President and my party value the potential votes of a bunch of illegal, illiterate "$5 an hour chicken pluckers" over my vote. We mow our own lawn and clean our own house, thank you very much, and if I decide to hire someone to do it, I'll hire an American and pay what the job is worth. Immigration policy is being made by a tiny group of elites of both parties who can't function without their illegal nannies and gardeners, and to hell with what the rest of us think. I am not crazy enough to vote for a Democrat, but... Just google FTAA (Free Trade Area of the Americas) for yourself . |

This White House has another burgeoning debacle on its hands. And it's not the Daily Bulletin or conservative bloggers' fault. I would highly recommend that blind Bush supporters not attack the reporter as some sort of NYTimes liberal ideologue. Those who have followed their excellent journalism over the years know that the Daily Bulletin and its reporters in the trenches have been at the forefront of border and immigration enforcement reporting.

That is what we get with incumbents who don't have to worry about getting re-elected, thanks to all those incumbent protection measures they've passed over the years. It has produced a culture of political and legislative corruption that infects both major parties and renders Congress incapable of doing what the nation so desperately needs on critical issues."
