Hi Snugs! This must be in the "wee hours" for you. Glad to see you here.
Those kids all remind me of puppies who haven't grown into their legs and feet and hands yet. Especially the boys. They're so cute! I'm sure they would all be mortified by that.
Good evening

GREAT news on the economic front:
DOW SURGES, ENDS UP 206 ON STRONG EARNINGS
By Meg Richards, AP Business Writer
NEW YORK - Stocks staged a stunning rebound Thursday as investors snapped up shares on unexpectedly strong earnings from companies including Nokia Corp. and Motorola Inc., and the surprising news that the New York Stock Exchange plans to merge with electronic trader Archipelago Inc. The Dow Jones industrial average soared more than 200 points, its best day in two years.
Bargain-minded buyers jumped back into the market a day after concerns about inflation sent stocks sharply lower. Thursday's session began with brisk trading, which some analysts worried wouldn't last, but with money flowing out of bonds, Wall Street grew more confident about the prospects for equities after last week's heavy losses.
"Obviously the market is oversold when you get multiple days of 100-point sell-offs," said Matt Kelmon, portfolio manager of the Kelmoore Strategy Funds. "I think the market got flushed out ... everybody was frightened. When everyone starts seeing the glass as half-empty, it's just panic in the streets. But once we get through earnings, I just see nothing but gradual upside for the rest of '05."

JOBLESS CLAIMS PLUNGE 36,000 LAST WEEK
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The number of Americans applying for initial jobless claims plunged 36,000 last week, the largest drop in more than three years, the Labor Department said on Thursday, partially because of difficulties in calculating seasonal adjustments.

PRESIDENT BUSH WILL SPEAK AT COMMENCEMENT
By Joo Eun Kim

President George W. Bush will speak at Commencement on May 21, 2005. Its a state occasion, Vice President Shirley Hoogstra said. Were going to hear a world leader at our stage.
On Wednesday, April 20, a fax came from President Bushs office, accepting the invitation to speak at the graduation ceremony.
Dr. Nick Wolterstorff had been originally scheduled to speak at Commencement, but President Bush will be Calvins 85th Commencement speaker.
No one thought it was possible, Hoogstra said. She said that Congressman Vern Ehlers played a key role in getting the invitation to President Bush.

I'm sure these kids all came from different schools, not the same school.
Public schools in the U.S. generally do not have uniforms, although they usually have some sort of dress code. Private schools sometimes have uniforms.
Hi snugs, Thank you for the earlier reply re the British
newspapers. I have been for the past yrs. glancing
through some on line. Your summary is very much what I
see also as to their leanings. Thanks again for taking
the time for your interesting comments.
THANK you, Princess!! Lovely pictures tonight!
I don't have any kids so I don't pay much attention, but occasionally I'll hear on the news that a particular school has the students wear uniforms, or is thinking about it, and then they'll have a lot of kids on TV talking about what a lousy idea it is.
Back when I was in school, (a looong time ago ;p) the parochial schools, like catholic, had uniforms.
