BAGHDAD, Iraq - U.S. and Iraqi troops detained more than 130 suspected militants and seized weapons in a series of raids across Iraq this week, the U.S. military said Tuesday.

At least 94 of those captured came from the Baghdad area, said Lt. Col. Clifford Kent, a spokesman for Task Force Baghdad. Both weapons and munitions were seized, he said. "You name it, we have it," Kent said.

Most of the militants detained in Baghdad were believed to be directly involved in recent attacks in the capital. Two were "specifically targeted as members of an execution cell," the military said in a statement.

"These aren't random searches. ... We are acting on specific, credible information we receive from local citizens who want to join us in the fight against terrorism," Kent said. "We are questioning people in the area and conducting our operations based mainly on this information."

We're making steady but sustained progress. The insurgency is not going away but neither is it invulnerable to interdiction by Coalition and Iraqi forces.

I know in a civil society everyone has the right of " DUE PROCESS OF LAW " but, if they have been found to be conspiring to act out plans of terrorism, and bombings then, after their due process of law, execute them.

I agree. It don't do any good to put them in a prison and then release them back out on the street to carry on their acts of terrorism.

In Vietnam if we ran up on people setting up booby traps or mines on the roads we did not attempt to arrest them we killed them. We were infantrymen not cops.

I do think its great that the Iraqis are coming forward and turning these animals in. If we have to go in and dig them out then some innocent people will get hurt too, sounds brutal but that is the way it is.

Give 'em a fair trial. Then hang 'em.

First we should seek their identity, Any who are not Iraqui's are automatically guilty and need to be executed forthwith. Iraqui's need to be either executed or imprisoned for long periods depending on the act.

First we should seek their identity,

How did they pick them up without knowing their identities?
