Violation of the UCMJ is a good place to start in answer to your Q. Thats the short answer. The irreperable harm and sigrace her, and her cohorts, action have done to the US military in the worlds eye is a much longer subject.
Mr. Silverback sums it up much better in post #145. The military ain't no democracy. Standards are higher for a reason.

Her behaviour was atrocious but surely could be punished appropriately under UCMJ by the military without outside interference...there was no need for this to be politicized...but the media attention made that inevitable.

Yes I quite agree :-) thanks

Good morning to you too, Brother Kurkris.
Nice patch on your homepage. I was a Sky Soldier briefly in 1967 (B/1/503) but I left after jungle school to go to F/51(LRP). My Ranger patch has Co O and an 82nd patch on it.
I was never too knowledgeable about the UCMJ which is probably why I don't have a Good Conduct Medal.
I still say putting the little troll in prison for 11 years is not justice.

Mornin' Laz. Yep, you've told me that in several other Lonsberry posts, however he never fails to get us freepers talking amongst ourselves. Personally, I don't like a writer who doesn't have at least one real noun and one verb in each sentence.
Myself, I left Rochester because of the *%##$*&@ gray skies and cold and snowy weather nine months of the year.

I kinda miss the grey skys. I love overcast days here in Hotlanta, of which there are precious few.
I do NOT miss the snow.
And the gun laws.
And Hillary.
And all the leftists.

My move out of Rochester took me to Macon for 10 years. I enjoyed every bit of the Southern culture plus it was a great place to bring up a couple of teen-agers. Sending them to Georgia Tech and Georgia College on in-state tuition was a real plus. No Geneseo State or Brockport State for them. Glad you're doing well in the"Big Peach".

I don't disagree with using some 'humiliation' techniques to break prisoners for interrogation. But I do NOT want American soldiers complicit in rape or other sexual abuse. This was way out of line. Did I miss something? Was there rape and/or sexual abuse involved?
