If thats the incident that took place at Trumps place in Fla, it was an Egyptian Swan. The gentleman who dispatched the swan was a friend of mine. He owns Wagner Brown Oil Company in West TX. His story is the swan attacked him several time while trying to retrieve his ball. He did show me several places on his legs and hands where the swan pulled up big welts and bruises. He also said it was a 6 iron, sounds like he over clubbed. He has been banned from all Trump property's.

I'm looking for some babies for my yard.

The worst they can do is a pinch. All noise and flutter.
I've had them before and find them entertaining.

Once you get the dogs and them acclimated to each other they add a nice layer to the security team. They don't miss a thing.

Good pets for a grumpy old goat like me.

Those who don't hunt waterfowl, may never know the joy of which you speak.

***

Hunting: Fine. Stomping adults and babies because an adult allegedly hissed at the guy: No.

And yes, geese do make a mess...we have them along the river trail near where I work. They no longer migrate because the food supply is plentiful, both naturally and by people feeding them. But generally speaking the ones near me are not aggressive unless they feel they and their young are threatened. In fact, unfortunately, the geese near my office are often too friendly...they try to eat out of your hand if you feed them, and it's a bad idea to let them do so -- they have powerful beaks that can literally break your hand. In fact, most of us in the area have been advised not to feed them at all.

They are good parents -- they are generally communal in how they raise their young. Often I see a group of adults surrounding a gaggle of goslings. Sometimes I see adults and goslings foraging, but there are usually several adults who literally stand guard over the rest of the gaggle.

I think the guy's story is bogus and I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Unfortunately, the fullest extent of the law in my opinion is usually not enough.

Stomping to death is a little excessive but I would no objection to seeing them shot properly with a 12 gauge. These non-migratory canadian geese destroy whole areas with their droppings and their aggressive behavior.

No, not over clubbed. I'd have used a driver. Wild animals that get too used to people are just plain obnoxious and obtrusive. Geese at hand can be vile and pernicious, not to mention unclean. Anyone who doesn't know that hasn't been around them. Goose shouldn't have messed with a West Texan either!

I would not defend any animal abuser, Dentist. People who start with animals have been reported to go on to other people.

I'm pretty sure this was in Mass. But I wouldn't be surprised if it were repeated on any number of Golf Courses nationwide over these years.

This guy should hang.

No

Geese are animals, not human beings.

He should pay a fine. One thousand dollars would do.

You are, of course, free to post your opinion, but WTF made you think that this opinion would make me think of you, other than "You are a freaking NUTJOB!"

They are ANIMALS, write him a ticket with a fine, make him clean up his mess, and go on with life. You would, most likely, be fine with it had he stomped a snake, most of which are FACTUALLY more beneficial to human beings, since they control rodents. Added bonus to the snake, it generally doesn't crap where I walk.

I'm not defending him. I'm just saying that if you are defending yourself from an attacking Goose, you should not end up having to spend thousands on lawyers and facing more time in prison than one would for manslaughter.

"They are crap machines and restrictions on hunting them has resulted in overpopulation and acres of filth on area beaches and parks."

So you blame the geese for the restrictions put on population control? Although it would break my heart to have to watch one die, I fully understand the need for a human control of their numbers. Your response indicates you feel some sort of pleasure in seeing them die. There is something very wrong with that.

"Aggressive 'possum"? In my experience no such creature exists. Opossums are by nature peaceable creatures and are utterly incapable of aggressive action. They also cannot carry rabies. I don't know how you define aggression, but I've yet to see a 'possum do anything except scurry away, go limp, or slobber profusely in response to my presence.

Opossums are beneficial creatures and are harmless to humans, property, and livestock. Please don't stomp them!
