A Republican with a spine! Is that the theme music from 2001: A Space Odyssey I hear?

Picture the debate in the Senate tomorrow: as the CSPAN-2 cameras pan the chamber, a shiny black obelisk (1x4x9) stands ominously in the back row, with several RINOs furtively touching it and scooting away.

The real question is, why couldn't Jack Bauer be Majority Leader?

OUTSTANDING!

You speak for a lot of us.

The Republicans have made an art of caving-in. I will believe this when I see ALL the judges receive an up or down vote, not until then regardless of what Frist says.

Reid Says Showdown Imminent in Senate

Democratic Leader Harry Reid declared an end Monday to compromise talks with Republican leaders over President Bush's controversial judicial nominees, saying their fate along with the future of long-standing filibuster rules will be settled in a showdown on the Senate floor.

"I've tried to compromise and they want all or nothing, and I can't do that," Reid told reporters after a private meeting with Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn.

"The leader's door remains open to Senator Reid," Frist's spokeswoman, Amy Call, said in reply.

Ha! Our spinelss, gutless "leaders" in Washington are trying to figure out how best to get fawning coverage by showing "principle" and "independence" the next time they get to criticize our President.

Right now, Orrin Hatch is probably trying to figure out which one of his staffers to fire over this so that he can look good to the Slimes, Newsweak, and the WaPo, et al.
