Quote of the Day
PRESIDENT BUSH:(to Afghan President Karzai)I want to thank you for your friendship and your commitment to freedom. I especially want to thank you for being such a wonderful host to my wife, Laura. She came back overwhelmed by the experience, touched by the people she met, and optimistic about the future for your country. So thanks for being a good host and thanks for being such a fine inspiration to not only the people of your country, but showing the countries in your neighborhood what's possible.

I asked a rhetorical question on Saturday whether or not Laura would have met Liz Cheney on her visit to the Middle the following photos show that she has in deed met her and in fact she seems to be following a similar schedule.

Laura Bush waves after being greeted by Judy Nir-Moses Shalom, right, the wife of Israeli Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom, at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport Sunday, May 22, 2005. Mrs. Bush arrived in Israel for a one-day visit, that will include the Palestinian town of Jericho, from Jordan where she attended the World Economic Forum conference on the Middle East on Saturday. At left is Liz Cheney, the daughter of US Vice-President Dick Cheney

Elizabeth Cheney, United States deputy assistant secretary of state for near eastern affairs, Dr. Hamdan Taha, Director General of Antiquities, and United States first lady Laura Bush look at the Tree of Life mosaic at Hisham's Palace in the West Bank town of Jericho, May 22, 2005. Here are a couple of photos of her with Liz today

First Lady Laura Bush(C) sits with Deputy Assistant Secretary for Near-East Affairs Elizabeth Cheney (R) and a nun as Psalm 150 is sung in Hebrew to them at the Church of the Resurrection in Abu Ghosh, Israel.

President Bush, right, listens to Afghan President Hamid Karzai, left, as they hold a joint news conference, Monday, May 23, 2005, in the East Room of the White House. Bush said today that U.S. troops in Afghanistan will remain under U.S. control despite Afghan President Hamid Karzais request for more authority over them.

In the pic of President Bush welcoming Karzai into the Oval Office, look over Karsai's shoulder....that's one of the paintings the clintons stole and had to return to the WH.
