Governor, lawmakers in daily contact on Schiavo, e-mails show

TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Jeb Bush was in daily contact with congressional leaders in March as court efforts to intervene on behalf of Terri Schiavo faltered, according to e-mails obtained Monday from the governor's office.

The e-mails, released to The Palm Beach Post in response to a public records request, also show that state lawmakers persevered with legislative maneuvering to keep the severely brain-damaged woman's feeding tube intact, despite advice from Bush's top Schiavo attorney that such an effort was hopeless.

Do you notice that Jeb is trying to do damage control now???? It's a little late for him to act like he cared. I don't buy this latest news at all. We aren't stupid but Jeb Bush thinks we are. The GOP called me today and I took over the call. We didn't talk about Howard Dean. We talked about Terri Schiavo for five minutes.

Jeb Bush should have dropped by Hospice to meet Terri before the state began killing her. This is really shabby but when a man from St. Pete was getting abc's Extreme Makeover, Jeb Bush flew down to drop by the guy's house while Terri was being starved to death.

Jeb Bush is calculating and unkind. Visits a blind man getting a half a million dollar home while Terri is being murdered by Florida.

ELECTED OFFICIALS:

The following is from Republican National Coalition for Life (RNCL)

Fax Notes, May 20,2002.

Could Honest Polling Have Saved Terri Schiavo? – During the tragic and horror-filled weeks leading up to Terri Schiavo's death due to government sanctioned starvation and dehydration, public opinion polls indicated support for removal of her feeding tube.

The media repeatedly said that Terri was in a "persistent vegetative state," which clearly, she was not. A person in a persistent vegetative state doesn't cry and show other emotion, or try to communicate with those around her, which Terri did until she was too weak to do anything but plead for help with her eyes.

The media's opinion polling questions, which generally gave a skewed if not blatantly false impression of Terri's condition, insured that respondents, under the impression that it would be in Terri's interest, would respond favorably to withdrawal of nutrition and hydration.

After her death, the Zogby organization did a poll (April 5, 2005) revealing that 80% of Americans do not support denying food and water to a disabled person who is not terminally ill and has no written directive. The same poll also finds that by over a 3 to 1 margin, Americans want elected officials to order a feeding tube to remain in place if there is conflicting testimony surrounding the case.

Finally, the Zogby poll shows that by a slight margin, respondents want the federal government to intervene when disabled people are denied food and water by a state court judge's order.

When the American people have the facts, they usually come up with the right decision. In Terri's case, media reports were distorted and biased in favor of killing her. Terri was not terminally ill. She was not dying. She had parents and other family members who loved her and wanted to care for her.

Had the facts been presented honestly and fairly and the pollsters asked questions based on truth, would her "husband," and his lawyer been successful in conniving with Judge George Greer who ordered that she would die? Would Terri still be alive? Think about it.

Elected Officials, you had the correct facts, and failed us.

INVESTIGATIONS AND IMPEACH GREER, OR BE IMPEACHED.

Paul F. Timmerman. Greenacres, FL

You have a point re the gulags etc.

I guess I still don't understand specifically "who" is RWE to you.

From your previous posts I was thinking that it was Christian Conservatives as a group and now I don't know.

Jeb may not realize it now but he will soon find out he has no political career left after his Governorship is over in Fl. He will see now one respects him or trusts him. What a shame it is to late for him to have done something for Terri.

I think about the whole ordeal every day. It's hard to believed that it all happened. From Greer not qualifying for office to DCF and the Congressional Subpoenas and still no protection against it being done to someone else.
It's a shame on the nation.

... I guess I still don't understand specifically "who" is RWE to you. ...

Those who would hold republicans responsible for societies shortcomings? Those who rip at the right for not being further right? If I could invent a word, those who caricaturize the right.

There are thousands of shades of 'conservatives' and thousands more of 'Christian conservatives'. If the shades clash it is evidence of extremity in a shade. I'm struggling here, to tell the truth. I suppose it is those who hold their belief so dear that they cannot fathom other's beliefs. One thing that would make me most happy is if everyone read their post after the write it and before they post it. If its something someone would say to someone else face, thats okay. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't write it to their handle. We must not give the enemy (MSM, dems and libs) anymore ammo to use against us to poison our standing within the middleground.

Talk about blind leading the blind. Oh but he did such a good job trying to stop her murder. Not.

Not according to the "latest news". Jeb is set to become US President, Crist is set to become FL Governor, and Rice FL AG.

Crist is going to have Mel Sembler's son be his campaign mgr governor. Crist who was chief law enforcment Fla AG let Terri be murdered for his friends, the Semblers and the Greers. I believe the United States is being run for the Mel Sembler family by the Bushes.

Thanks for nothing Bushes. The GOP honeymoon is over. The real republicans, i.e. the voters, are going to spank the fake republicans in campaign 2006.

A Republican Judge Greer and his judge friends killed Terri Schiavo.

Why is it that Jacksonville, FL's largest city, is so enamored with the rotund Mr. King, especially in these days of glitter and glamour? Is King a former Democrat?

Jeb Bush is so toast as a candidate but was a unique accomplice in judicial homicide. He won't meet Alan Keyes but Jesse Jackson got right in his office. Jeb told Jesse that Terri was going to die and Jesse said "okay, jebbie. I'm kewl with it." Then JJ came back to Hospice in his srretch limo to hug the Schindlers one last time for the evening news feeds.

RINOs are worse than Dims. You expect a Dim to stab you in the back at every turn, whereas a RINO will stab you in the back without warning. With friends like these...

I have long wondered why John Ellis Bush did not give any consideration to the briefs of the Thomas More Society. Or would he have taken action had the shoe been on the other foot, and the Thomas More Society argued to the contrary?

Of course the polling got Terri killed!! If it had appeared that public opinion was on the side of life, all the politicians would have jumped over each other to try to save her, Gov. Jeb Bush leading the charge.

Unfortunately for Terri, the media reported the polls WRONG and so Jeb and his cronies thought few who mattered cared.

Come to find out, most of us - all who mattered - were opposed to the dehydration/starvation of a living breathing disabled human being! And we'll never forget.

Oh, well, now we know who's a friend of life and who is full of baloney. As far as I'm concerned, Jeb Bush is more full of baloney than all the rest who are also full of baloney.
