Governor, lawmakers in daily contact on Schiavo, e-mails show

TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Jeb Bush was in daily contact with congressional leaders in March as court efforts to intervene on behalf of Terri Schiavo faltered, according to e-mails obtained Monday from the governor's office.

The e-mails, released to The Palm Beach Post in response to a public records request, also show that state lawmakers persevered with legislative maneuvering to keep the severely brain-damaged woman's feeding tube intact, despite advice from Bush's top Schiavo attorney that such an effort was hopeless.

Well at least we know that there are a few who did not abandon the effort to save Terri.

Maybe after another cup of coffee I can digest the rest of the article.

Sen. Dan Webster, R-Oviedo, tried vainly to persuade his colleagues to support a bill that was drafted by Gov. Bush's office but which the governor's top Schiavo lawyer dismissed as futile.

Dan Webster is a good guy. The biggest failure in Gov. Bush's efforts occurred here in Florida, where the RINOs (Webster's "colleagues") in the state legislature would not support the effort to save Terri.

Sometimes I think RINOs are even worse than Dems.

RINOs are worse than Dims. You expect a Dim to stab you in the back at every turn, whereas a RINO will stab you in the back without warning. With friends like these...

I won't argue with that.

The Florida Nine led by Sen Jim King should not be forgotten and their constituents need to be working now to find candidates to run against them.

Isn't that the truth? bAck stabbers deluxe!!

After King's quote came out I realized that his office must have lied when asked how he was planning to vote on the new bill to save Terri. Saying he was still weighing all the options when in fact he wasn't weighing a dang thing! I'd love to know exactly how many calls/emails his office received asking him to vote to save Terri.

"When all of us decided we were going to vote no, it wasn't to be disruptive. It wasn't even to be collegial, said Sen. Jim King, R-Jacksonville, the author of the state's death with dignity law. We did so because in our heart of hearts we thought it was the right thing to do for Terri and it was certainly the right thing for people who are like Terri."

They already knew how they were going to vote! Recalling King's verbose speech and grandstanding during the debating of the bill is nauseating. Strutting like a peacock and with such dramatic expression it was all just a show! The 9 wasted the time of the rest of the Legislature with their little stunt.

Floridians you need to get busy finding opponents for these party traitors.

"Gov. Jeb Bush was in daily contact with congressional leaders in March as court efforts to intervene on behalf of Terri Schiavo faltered, according to e-mails obtained Monday from the governor's office."

Jeb Bush is a gutless wonder who was just posturing--"sellin' wolf tickets" as the kids say. He had the power to use the FL National Guard and FL State Police to rescue
Terri from the Barney Fife Pinellas Park cops but was either too cowardly to do so or didn't really believe in his heart that Terri Schiavo was worth saving. This is what happens when you elect silver-spoon rich kids to high office; they don't have the guts to put up a fight.

Some idiots hold Jeb reponsible, and claim to hold the repub's feet to the fire for it. What misplaced idiocy.

Oh boy, I like 'I thinks'.

Sometimes I think rightwing extremists are even worse than liberals.

It's not idiocy nor is it misplaced. Read post 7 above to see what I mean.

Over 140 posts and I'm a "newbie". Yeah, whatever GI Joe. You're probably a culture of death type who was happy to see her snuffed.

This is VERY important. I live in North Florida (not in King's district, though), and I really want to see these guys out. King has been a jerk about everything for years.

I guess that's why you didn't bother deconstructing my argument--because you consider me a newbie. Either that or (more likely) you can't find an INTELLECTUAL basis for defeating my argument so you resort to name calling. Wonderful.

Wonder why?

Where have I called you a name, newbie? I haven't even read your argument, much less deconstructed it. I don't argue 'intellectually' with the emotionally challenged, and these TS threads demonstrate the direct link between emotionally challenged and disabled via emotion. So, newbie, you may throw a temper tantrum if you wish, but I find arguments unworthy of intellectual response. And, seeing as how you're a newbie and all, please enlighten me as to where have I called you a name? Thanks in advance, newbie.
