Everyone I know thought Farenheit 911 was crap, and a fair number of them voted for sKerry. Understanding that Michael Moore is a nutcase doesn't make you a conservative or even sane yourself for that matter.
I thought it was a powerful comment, the two deaths within a week of one another. Diana was lauded and mourned as a humanitarian and someone who gave her all for the world, but then, it's as if God said, "Let me show you what happens when someone truly worthy of the recognition passes on."
I don't think it was coincidence.
Thanks, wagglebee. According to Google, Diana died on 8/31/97 and her funeral was held on 9/6. Mother Teresa died on 9/5/97.
Sorry somehow you got mixed in with lauralee. A truly serious nutcase.
Agreed. I think she got the welcomes she deserved in heaven where it really counts.
I will never again read another thing by Christopher Hitchens!
At 18 I thought Jesse Jackson was a great American...
I think its because religion requires that you follow a rule and give up a little bit of your freedom to do so. But giving up these kinds of freedoms (licentiousness) is actually for the greater good. Nobody's perfect, but some people are more conscientious at it than others and its just jealousy, resentment.
smart move :-)
Not sure why. Good question.
Something that goes against conservative values on Showtime! I'm shocked, SHOCKED!
I've recognized for years that it had a pro-gay, anti-Christian, anti-conservative agenda. I've never watched it and never missed it.
In the past I've been on panels selecting films for industry awards, and almost 100% of the films produced by Showtime that came to us for consideration were gay-themed, and they were very clearly produced just for the sake of promoting the agenda. I had the authority to accept them for the next round or to reject them right there. I'm proud to say they never got past me.
I'm only 12 years older than our dear Lauralee. I can certainly understand her naivete. I was there too. The most effective remedy for me was having my stupid ideas mocked mercilessly by my older siblings at the Thanksgiving dinner table. I just figured I'd give LL a head start.
Call me cruel, but I'm of the opinion that calm logical arguments aren't nearly as effective as ironic acerbic (and factually correct and informative) insults.
Just do us a favor. Go to your local public library and get Mother Teresa's book 'Mother Teresa: In My Own Words' by Mother Teresa. Read it.
But I have the patience of a saint...

So, I guess you were a liberal.
Very well put, Ashfield.
Not much sprituality at either end of the continuum....or if you KNOW you KNOW. Hey, I'm still struggling with my spirituality, but not so ignorant that I don't know spirituality when I see it....
Anyone who can sell the Cadillac that the pope gave her on his visit ( after it was used to drive him around) and use the money for the poor....well, that certainly is a case of non-attachment and selfless compassion ( oh, and by the way..no codependency there either. ha).
