Off the clock work. In Oregon, 400 employees in 27 stores sued the company for unpaid, off-the-clock overtime. In their suit, the workers explained that managers would delete hours from their time records and tell employees to clean the store after they clocked out. In December 2002, a jury found in favor of the workers (Associated Press, “Federal Jury Finds Wal-Mart Guilty in Overtime Pay Case,” Chicago Tribune, Business 3, 12/20/03).

Entry level jobs should support one person with at least modest shelter, food, transportation (preferably at least a used car and insurance) and a little extra to go to a movie. The only single people with lower echelon jobs have to live with someone or in a shelter to get by.

WalMart is like a big last gasp attempt by them for their very survival.

IMO, we need to dissolve the teacher's union and unions in government. OR simply insist that the average of pay and benefits in government with or without unions is no more than equal to the average in the private sector.
We do that, and the government payroll saves at least 45% IMO.

If you have 4 people who work, that share an apartment, share expenses, you have a livable wage.

You want to go out and live alone, or with your 25 illegitimate children by 35 fathers, you can not afford it.

When I had an entry level job I was 15 and lived with my parents. It's not my fault that some people wait until they are 30 and have 2 kids before they get a job.

So. . .flipping burgers at Wendy's should earn some high school drop-out a "living wage?"

How about a high school student working full-time over the summer doing the exact same job as the full-time drop-out. . .cutting grass or flipping burgers. . .full-time over the summer or full-time all the time. . .pay them the same "living wage," and if not that would be discrimination.
