If so, then she wasn't "alone" as she claimed, but escorted by a man. This matters because Saudi Arabia reportedly does not let women travel alone. She is saying that she did, even though she wasn't allowed to drive. Supposed to demonstrate that women are not oppressed, I guess. I am skeptical that she was allowed to travel without a male escort.
If faced with 'someone' in a burqa I might say "I do not want to listen to a disembodied voice, and I will not speak to a sheet". I say "'someone' in a burqa" because you never know if the person is a he and wearing a bomb-vest or bomb-belt underneath.

I pray that she my one day engage her energy into exposing some of the womens issues in the KSA. Perhaps even the widespread problems of sex slaves... where they import "maids" from places like Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the Philippines and take away their passports, their rights and any left over dignity they still have in the KSA reducing them to little more than slaves... where their male "employers" are able to molest them, and rape them or beat them with impunity, and where the "mistress" of the house is unable/unwilling to act as she is a mere "woman" - her only course of action to seeing her husband screw the domestic slave is to take out her frustrations on the innocent slave girl and give her some more beatings to go with her husbands rape.
Saudi, a proud nation where you can emulate the example of Muhammed, and if your maid/slave tries to run away because of your treatment, you can simply accuse her of "theft" and she conveniently ends of at "chop chop square" after Friday prayers...
That apologist is dumb beyond belief.

Call me picky, but, my biggest complaint about this article is her excessive use of passive voice. Not a great writer, she.
