This what I try to tell people on the right all the time. Bushs presidency is coming to an end, so who is there at this point? Rudy Guiliani, I think has the best chance if he decides to run... But he's socially moderate. The evangelicals are going to break for someone like Bill Frist. Frist cannot win against Hillary. Republicans best bet is to run a popular moderate in 2008.Joseph Lieberman may have been an excellent choice for Democrats. He's strong on Defense, he's a moderate compared to other Democrats. Of course he did not win the primary because he was too "Conservative". Rudy may be the most electable candidate but like you said the evangelicals will not vote for him. In the past couple of years, the atmosphere in the primaries became much more polarized but there is only one candidate that I think can rise above all this.
Our best hope is to stop her in 2006, IMHO.
