HA! I'm going to have to look for that. I loved "Good Omens"."Good Omens" is terrific, isn't it? Try Pratchett's "Carpe Jugulum" also (set in the Discworld universe), which is his take on vampires. Hysterically funny sometimes, and also some kick-butt action. I've decided that I want to be Granny Weatherwax when I grow up. :)

When ever I read Granny Weatherwax, I think of the crotchity old woman on the Britcom "Waiting for God".
My favorite of his is "Lords and Ladies" where Elves come back to the Discworld, and we learn they are cruel, sadistic bastards who will use their charm to facinate you...while they remove your limbs...slowly...for fun.

My all-time favorite Pratchett is "Good Omens," but my favorite Discworld tome (so far) is "Night Watch." I am guessing that Sam Vimes is closest to Pratchett's heart, since Sam has become very realistic and nuanced over time. It has been a pleasure to watch Pratchett's progress as a writer - he reminds me of Dorothy Sayers in that regard, that he just keeps getting better!

I agree on Sam. Pratchett really cares for his characters. I remember how pi$$ed I was when Douglas Adams blew away EVERYBODY in the last Hitchhiker's Guide book. You sense that Pratchett is above that.

It was reprinted about 10-20 years ago. I have copy somewhere in my hoard. Oh, for some more bookshelves...

I'd follow Carrot to Hell and back, with DEATH following me.

Yeah, that was a horrible end to the series, not to mention how depressing everything with Author's daughter was.

Dickens is pure sentimentality and emotion. With comedy.
