7-Year-Old Suspected In Beating Death Of Baby Sister
WNBC Television ^ | 6/2/2005 | Puppage

TAMPA, Fla. -- In an attack that's rattled even veteran detectives, police in Florida said a 7-year-old boy has confessed to beating his baby sister to death.

Investigators said the boy was jealous of the attention the infant was getting and upset by her crying. They said the boy beat the baby with his fists, feet and a two-by-four.

The attack occurred in Tampa, while the boy was visiting his father.

Police said the father and his girlfriend were outside with neighbors when the boy came out and told them the baby was "bleeding." They said the seven-month-old had a bloody nose, and wasn't breathing. The parents rushed the baby to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A spokesman said detectives noted they'd never seen someone so young "show so much violence and so little remorse."

"Oh well... Next time I'm putting up a fence."

Plant a bunch of these.

Or these:

Those would keep the little devil out. Not that I'm mean, or anything.

Can you find me one case from 50 years ago where a child intentionally murdered an infant?

This case is from the Pagosa Springs News dated August 23, 1895.

Within the last three weeks our next door neighbor's five-year-old has deliberately smashed my daughter's plastic chair and kicked the top off of one of our landscape lights. Yesterday he pulled all the leaves off of a birch tree I had just planted. I told him I was pissed and told him not to come into our yard for the next month. Fifteen minutes later his father shows up to yell at me. "He's just five!" "He's very sensitive!"

Oh well... Next time I'm putting up a fence.

Might as well put your fence up now ... this situation will only get worse.

How do we know if cap punishment is a good deterrent? After 20 years of appeals, et. al, it's no worse than just prison.

I agree. We should try to prevent stuff like this from happening. It's called parenting.

I've helped raise 5 children and there's nothing wrong with putting your infant down to nap while I might be out in the backyard sipping an iced-tea on the deck talking over the fence with my neighbor.

Oh please, that is not what we are talking about here and you know it.

I agree. At this point, he thinks about how he can inflict more harm. He developed a plan.

My daughter and I was talking about that, she is seventeen. She said the same thing when he stopped to get the 2x4, that alone shows him to be thinking, before acting, therefore he knew what he was doing....and continued on to complete what he started.

Just a thought, my husbands ex-wife talks him and me down to his children, saying how she despises us both, I never did a thing to her. It was she who left him for the man she is with now. Any way when the boy hears her he reacts to it. He comes here and clearly dis-likes (no hates) me, also...I am curious (not saying it is true) how many times in cases like these the parent without realizing it causes this to happen because they say horrible things to the kid to make the kids feel as they do...awful.

you are completely right, however in visits to Jackson Georgia and San Quentin years ago I found the conditions these men live in are worse than what animals get. So it is worse for them, and it is not fair because they are not all treated the same as far as trials go. Justice is not really justice anymore. It is something the courts do to try and make us believe they are doing something about the problem.

You are so right about parenting, we have been so grieved about our situation here and so confused about what to do. It is very depressing.

capitol punishment is not a deterrent to murder

It is a deterrent. Can you name just one instance where someone has died via capital punishment and returned to life to kill again?

YHWH told us to set up legal systems.

YHWH's Word actually protects three ways of killing as being legitimate under certain circumstances.

The first legitimate way of killing a person is legal capital punishment for gross and heinous crimes committed against other people. In Genesis 9:6, "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God made He man." Immediately after Noah’s Flood, God authorized people to establish governments that would bring order and justice to society. Part of the authority given to a government is to execute its worse criminals with the death penalty.

Whether we like it or not, the Bible allows for the death penalty for certain crimes. Leviticus 24:17 says, "If anyone takes the life of a human being, he must be put to death."

YHWH authorizes governments to use the death penalty on hard-core criminals. Numbers 35:16-21 affirms it. The Bible says the execution of a quick penalty serves as a deterrent to crime (Deuteronomy 13:11; Ecclesiastes 8:11). This same principle carries into the New Testament. In Romans 13:4, Paul says a policeman "is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer."

Paul said in Acts 25:11, "If I am guilty of doing anything deserving of death, I do not refuse to die." This shows that Paul believed in the legitimacy of capital punishment.

Are you suggesting this has anything to do with slave reparations?

It was a (very round about) way of saying that I thought your removal suggestion was unnecessary.

Bullsh*t!

You show me where the post even hints that the parents are "losers".

It seems the father is not the custodial parent of the 7 yr old. He only sees him on weekends, etc..

You must like it up there in your glass house, huh?

Don't get all indignant just because you got called on your ignorant rush to judgement

Go ahead and read your reply #16 as follows:

[Police said the father and his girlfriend...]

[Tells me a lot...]

[You got that right....that is all one really needs to know. Typical loser parents more concerned with their lust lives than anything.]

You're busted, yellowdog

Are these people shacking up or not? Did they have a child out-of-wedlock or not?

I stand by everything I have said. I can hardly believe that you really think these are great parents and yes, just by the little we know.

I will not defend those parents.

"Police said the father and his girlfriend...
"Tells me a lot..."

I am really so sick of reading "the child's father and his girlfriend" and "the child's mother and her boyfriend."

It's everywhere ! Last week on the front page of the Washington Post was a photo of a military burial, with the flag presented to the dead Marine's son as the child's mother, the dead Marine's girlfriend, sat nearby. I read that Steve Nash's girlfriend is expecting their child in the Fall.

I don't understand how these men and women can bring children into the world and not make a commitment, to each other for that child's benefit, through marriage. What am I missing?

What difference does it make if he's 7 or 17?

Ten years, and that's a lot if you're talking about a 7 year old vs. a teenager. I don't think you can put someone that young to death. What s wrong with the kid? Something HAS to be seriously screwed up for a 7 year old to do something this brutal, and to off him like he was an adult... it just doesn't make any sense. It's barbaric, frankly. A 17 year old is effectively an adult. That's a big difference.

I understand that scripture says to set up justice systems. But what if we have become a justice system who puts to death innocent men while letting the guilty go free? What if it has become a justice system that has become prejudice against poverty? I have seen men being put to death for a crime that was committed while trying to eat, because he was a black man not able to work because of his color (not saying this was right but not a cold blooded killer, just a hungry man). I have watched as Charles Manson gets rich while in prison. God also tells us to visit and take care of those in prison, so is it ok for a justice system to allow a man to freeze in the winter on death row because there is no heat and his family has long since abandoned him. I am saying the deterrent, being people who watch as we do this in the name of justice. It does not control the five others who will kill tomorrow. It does not cull out evil. It is not working, that is all I am saying. Not for us, because somewhere we have strayed from what G-d wanted us to do and we are not being fair and equal to all now. We are not treating all men as equals, equal justice, equal defense and so on. In fact do you realize it cost more to keep a man on death row than to hold him for life? The appeals process is blamed on the defense when in fact, people who are for capitol punishment make it hard for the appeals to happen, so therefore it takes years and years. I worked on Alexander Williams case and it wore me down, he was commuted in the end, however he deserved his appeals. I didn't deserve being spit on and my hair was cut. That made me a victim. I have seen these victims act worse than the person who committed the murder at times. It is all sad and it is in sad shape. When they can assure me (everyone) will have an equally fair trial and that no innocent man will ever die again, then it will be the justice system G-d intended us to build. However look at the world, most of it is so far from G-d they wouldn't begin to know how he wanted justice served.

(you again!!!) How are you...:)? lol ps... I was just commenting on the thought of a boy 7 being tried as an adult and them seeking Capitol Punishment. It scares me is all.

What do you do if you are a parent who wasn't given a choice in the matter? My daughter is doing very well, I have always been aware of the failure rate being higher for her. But I did not have a choice to commit to it (the marriage) for life or not....:(

I don't know...and either do you. Irrelevant, IMO

I don't say they are great parents. I say that you have a lot of nerve saying they are "losers" and just "shacking up", when there are millions of divorced couples out there that don't want to get married again.

I will not defend those parents.

Not asking you to....but don't convict them either.
