I used to work with a guy in the Bay Area that was a motor cop who patrolled the Woodside area, and he had a lot of biker crash stories to tell. They usually featured the bike or the rider in a tree, and the other party up to 300 ft. away.
No doubt, mate. The guy I referred to apparently sailed out for quite a distance; that was why the LEOs doing the searching did not immediately spot him. I think he was a lot more banged up than just the leg, but memory fails Me about the rest of it. I know he was unable to crawl away from his landing site, and he was lucky to have friends that did not give up searching for him. Not to mention surviving about four days severly injured in the open and without any food or water.
I think the bike finally came down the following winter and was too damaged to rescue (not to mention difficult to get to), but that was just what I heard from people who claimed to know the guy.
