ROBERT (THE KLEAGLE) BYRD MAY HAVE MET HIS MATCH

Byrd has won every election by a landslide, but it appears he may have his work cut out for him. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito could give him a run for his money. Current polls give Byrd 46% and Capito 43%. The beauty of this is Capito has not announced a run for Byrd's seat. Byrd is so desperate that he has Sen. Obama raising money for him. Irony? Shaky sheets will stay home next year.
He will retire with grace rather than run and lose.
A Republican pickup here will offset a loss in Tennessee when Rep. Harold Ford wins Sen Frist's retired seat.
To: CROSSHIGHWAYMAN
Harold Ford could win elsewhere but not Tenn. That's a Red stste now.

Harold Ford could win elsewhere but not Tenn. That's a Red stste now.So is South Dakota.
But it had 2 Democrat senators until last November.
Ford will win easily because he is a very conservative Dem.
I'll expect him to adorn the national ticket.....VP or POTUS...within the next 20 years.
That doesn't mean he will win though.
I'm backing Sen. George Allen for president in 2008.
He has Bush's homespun charm, is unbeatable in a good-sized southern state (Virginia) and has a gift Bush was born without.
He is an articulate man!!!!!

By placing the Rebel flag on Byrd's Klan Suit, you are making a false assumption, namely, that the Rebel Flag is racist, when everyone knows it is not racist.

If Ford and Co can't keep Willie Herenton from winning elections in their personal feifdom, then how in God's name do you expect them to win Tennessee.

I suggest you review his votes from the ACU. Junior is very much a liberal 'Rat. His name is synomous with racism and corruption in Tennessee, and he most certainly will not win our fine state.

Ford is not conservative. I am in his distric so I know of what I speak. He may talk a good game but he is a LIBERAL from the FORD Crime family. The rest of the state hates the Fords with a passion. No way he wins. His uncle was just indicted for bribery (John Ford the TN state senator).

I'll go you one better on the whole rebel flag-Klan past of Byrd.
That stupid move on his part was over FIFTY years ago!Attack Byrd for being an out of touch liberal sycophant with a big mouth and I completely agree. But let the Klan diatribes die.He has totally repudiated that part of his past and I think its petty of conservatives to keep beating this dead horse.
Besides, the Klan today is a bunch of on-line hucksters trying to sell T-shirts and bumper stickers. They are dead as a terrorist group.

I didn't. I found the picture and posted it. What's the problem? I won't get into a debate with you over the Flag. I'll say what I want to say and that will be the end of it. You have a picture of a racist man, wearing a racist costume. On that costume is a Confederate flag. To some it's a sign of racism.
To most it is about history. The Southerners, are the only people not allowed to celebrate the deaths of their ancestors who fought in the war between the North and South. My ancestral family never owned slaves. I can trace my ancestors back to Brian O'Banion, who left Ireland and landed in Virginia in 1680. No slave owners in our family tree.

That stupid move on his part was over FIFTY years ago!The only reason that is ever mentioned is the Dems blast the Republicans as racists and give Byrd a pass. Look what happened to Trent Lott and compare that to the treatment Byrd gets. Byrd plays the liberal gig to the hilt, like he did fifty years ago when being conservative and a Klansman was politically popular. You are preaching to the wrong bunch.

Ford will win easily because he is a very conservative Dem. Very conservative? He is quite liberal. If the GOP has his tirades on the floor of the House on tape where he's ranting and raving about tax cuts for the rich and other such nonsense - so much to the point he was reprimanded by the chair - they should make quick work of him.

"Could easily describe Al Gore, Jr., and he won each time until it counted."Last time Al Gore, not Clinton/Gore, won anything in Tennessee was in the '80's, wasn't it? Or maybe in '90?
So much for ancient history - we're talking about the NEXT election here.

By placing the Rebel flag on Byrd's Klan Suit, you are making a false assumption, namely, that the Rebel Flag is racist, when everyone knows it is not racist. << The Ku Klux Klan are the ones that placed the rebel flag on their logos in the first place, not versa. According to their OWN website "The Ku Klux Klan came into existence at the end of the War Between the States in a period called 'Black Reconstruction.' resulting in tremendous crime, violence, and corruption against White Southerners. At the darkest hour, the Klan arose and restored the government of the South back to the Southern people, and as Woodrow Wilson said, it saved civilization on this continent."
If you have a problem with the depiction of Byrd being photoshopped to wear an AUTHENTIC looking Klan outfit, take it up with the Klan and demand they stop using the rebel flag in that manner. I doubt their organization is about to disregard the logo since they've used it since their founding.

You make a good point. Let me explain my credibility. I'm 41 yrs old and I had a great grandfather fight for the South in The War of Southern Independence. Think about that. My great grand father. He was born Benjamin Gunter Womble on Feb 17, 1842. My grandmother, his daughter, was born Dec. 10. 1903. My mother was born Apr 26, 1943. I was born March 17, 1964. My mother has been active with the UDC and the DAR. Need I explain this. BTW, my great grand father was captured at Gettysburg and imprisoned at Hart's Island, NY until the end of the war.
Therefore, Don't lecture me. I will Freepmail you on this.
