ROBERT (THE KLEAGLE) BYRD MAY HAVE MET HIS MATCH
Federal Review ^ | 06/08/2005 | marblehead17

Byrd has won every election by a landslide, but it appears he may have his work cut out for him. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito could give him a run for his money. Current polls give Byrd 46% and Capito 43%. The beauty of this is Capito has not announced a run for Byrd's seat. Byrd is so desperate that he has Sen. Obama raising money for him. Irony? >> By placing the Rebel flag on Byrd's Klan Suit, you are making a false assumption, namely, that the Rebel Flag is racist, when everyone knows it is not racist. <<

The Ku Klux Klan are the ones that placed the rebel flag on their logos in the first place, not versa. According to their OWN website "The Ku Klux Klan came into existence at the end of the War Between the States in a period called 'Black Reconstruction.' resulting in tremendous crime, violence, and corruption against White Southerners. At the darkest hour, the Klan arose and restored the government of the South back to the Southern people, and as Woodrow Wilson said, it saved civilization on this continent."

If you have a problem with the depiction of Byrd being photoshopped to wear an AUTHENTIC looking Klan outfit, take it up with the Klan and demand they stop using the rebel flag in that manner. I doubt their organization is about to disregard the logo since they've used it since their founding.

You make a good point. Let me explain my credibility. I'm 41 yrs old and I had a great grandfather fight for the South in The War of Southern Independence. Think about that. My great grand father. He was born Benjamin Gunter Womble on Feb 17, 1842. My grandmother, his daughter, was born Dec. 10. 1903. My mother was born Apr 26, 1943. I was born March 17, 1964. My mother has been active with the UDC and the DAR. Need I explain this. BTW, my great grand father was captured at Gettysburg and imprisoned at Hart's Island, NY until the end of the war.

Therefore, Don't lecture me. I will Freepmail you on this.

Sorry, I didn't mean to seem sarcastic. I truly don't know anything about TN politics. I'm just surprised that we could lose a seat there.

Your great grandfather was 61 when your grandmother was born? How old was his wife?

Not sure. I keep meaning to ask my Mom. She was his second wife and a good deal younger.

When the KKK was at the height of its membership and power in the 1920s, with over two million members nationally (out of 125 million populations) there were large parades held on the streets of Washington D.C. Notice that the Confederate Battle Flag carried by the Army of Northern Virginia is not in evidence. The widespread use of the Battle Flag by the KKK did not occur until the 1960s. Here is the Flag that they carried most frequently...

The Ku Klux Klan parades in the nation's capitol in 1925.

The Ku Klux Klan parades in the nation's capitol in 1925.

So to be fair to Senator "Sheets" Byrd, his 'uniform' should only have the American Flag with 48 stars to be historically accurate. To show otherwise would be like a painting of George Washington in 2003 US Army desert battle-dress...

Your dreaming if you think Ford will have an easy win in Tennessee.

I hope the people of Tennessee have better judgment than to put a person with solid left wing and Black Caucus ties like Ford into the Senate.

"I think Byrd is still a racist"
Probably so but I think he is more vulnerable to be attacked as one of the old Kennedy liberals who tows the line on the latest ADA pet projects than us playing the race card like the liberals do.

Never mind, there is still the class on diversity indoctrination.

It meets just down the street in your local CAIR office located upstairs over the ACLU knot heads.

A Summer Romance That Might Last

There are two major reasons why we're seeing this second wave of Shelley-mania.

Story by Chris Stirewalt, W.Va. State Journal

State and national Republicans still are swooning at the thought of Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito taking on Sen. Robert Byrd next year, even as the object of their desire perfects her demurrals.

Since it's already been shown in pretty convincing fashion that Capito could theoretically win, her fans now are looking to prove that it's a lock.

Every day there seems to be a new poll or piece of punditry that would have us believe Byrd and Capito are in a statistical dead heat. Not likely, but a tantalizing thought for those of us eager to elect someone who represents West Virginia's future rather than its past.

Capito is no more likely to be taken in by this second round of wooing than she was by the first that came earlier this year, but she must be enjoying all the attention.

If the polls are clear on one point, it's that since her political suitors started making advances, more West Virginians know her and like her than ever before.

There are two major reasons why we're seeing this second wave of Shelley-mania. ...

Ford won't take TN. The senate race is statewide, and that is problematic for any Memphis dim.

I hope she does get in there. She looks like she can kick his senile butt down the block, just for drill!

What I would like to see is K. Harris take the seat in Florida, have Steele win in Maryland, and Capito win in WVA.

Hey, I can dream!
