Hay Dads! Father's Day help
June 18, 2005 | Sandlady

Posted on 06/18/2005 10:41:04 AM PDT by sandlady

My husband and I have 3 children. We are planning to spend family time together tomorrow--a picnic in the park.

Even though he will be thrilled to simply BE with us, my children and I want to give their father a token of our appreciation for the love and support he gave us throughout the year.

I'm looking for ideas--what gift would YOU like for Father's Day?

My husband would love a custom painted chromed-up Harley but I'm looking for something in the $50-200 range. What do Dad's pine for these days? What cool item would you like but would never get for yourself?

Any and all suggestions welcome!

Thanks!!!

I cannot even believe I typed "Hay" in the title. Should be "hey" but maybe those "hay-dads" will have some unique gift ideas!!! LOL!

I'm a pilot in training. Saw these in Sporty's. They require that a certain activity is passed at a certain altitude though. c);-)

How's about sending the kids to grandma's for a while, and renting a movie at home?

A case of beer, pint of Jim Beam, a quart of jumbo shrimp and a jar of Bookbinders Cocktail Sauce. I assume he already has a hammock under a shady tree....

Then they're old enought to write a "Why I Love You, Dad" or "Why My Dad is the Best Dad" composition to give him. That's the best Father's Day present a Dad could get.

Much preferred over new handkerchiefs or a cordless drill, if you know what I mean.

Then you can spend the money on food for the picnic. ;-)

iPod Shuffle, gift certificate at the iTunes music store.

And a babysitter, steak dinner, and roll in the hay.

Does he go camping, canoing, cycling, travel..... I got a new hand held GPS a while back and can't tell you how useful and how much fun it has been. There are a few brands but mine is by Garmin. Might just squeeze into your budget. Other than that, your misspelling of 'hay' was appropriate.... as in 'roll in the ___' lol.

Have the kids frame their favorite picture of them and dad with a comment or two on the back. I'm sure that's what I'll receive and they'll join the 80 plus pictures I have in my office collection.

Last year, I gave my Dad a $25 gift card from Wal-Mart. This year I just sent him $25 in a card. He liked the latter more than the former.

Whatever it is he HAS to do...but HATES doing...take that money and hire someone to do it for him, for a while. Say, Honey, I got so and so to take care of yadda yadda, for the next two months. Thanks for doing it all the time, but we thought you needed a break.
