Today: Katie Couric MIA - Could this be Beginning of End?
The Today Show | governsleast governsbest

Could something be up at The Today Show?

The show has been hit with successive waves of bad news. First, falling ratings as Good Morning America with Diane Sawyer narrows the gap and even beats Today in some markets. Next, a series of articles painting Katie Couric as a self-centered prima donna at war with Matt Lauer and responsible for the axing of various show execs.

Katie missed a few shows last week, and granted, that's not unusual. The show explained she was "on assignment," and perhaps she was. But this morning, Katie was missing again, and this time there was no explanation, just Campbell Brown in her seat. For that matter, Ann Curry, Today's regular news reader, was also out, though in her case it was stated that she was "on assignment."

Could something be up? We'll be watching.

By the way, the final segment of the first half-hour focused on Joe Biden effectively throwing his hat into the ring over the weekend for the Democratic presidential nomination.

It's just my opinion, but given Biden's personal history, I'm not sure his announcement line was necessarily the best move: "I'm Joe Biden, and I'm reporting for duty." ;-)

I believe there is an unprintable name for those kind of strappy high-heels. Trashy indeed!

Yeah, the only people that wear them are hookers & drag queens.

My husband & I are trying to come up with a scenario where I disappear right before our anniversary & then turn up in Atlantic City - for some reason - we haven't figured that part out yet. I hear there's good money to be made by running away!

Uh, sorry, wish he had, but that was just my little attempt at humor. They did show a clip of him plagiarizing Neil Kinnock, which was nice. By the way, the sheer ego and ambition emanating from him in the clip of his announcement for the '88 nomination was startling.

We can only hope they will both runaway forever that would be good. Giving this nutcase $500 million for book rights. What is this world coming to? Who and why would anyone read about this nutjob.

Between the $900K per condo in California and $500 million to a nutcase, one has to wonder has everyone lost their minds?

Oh and golly Biden throwing his hat in the Presidential ring, be still my heart LOL (sarcasm).. who cares? Okay is there anything serious going on in the world that would really be news?

One who has short legs should not wear those shoes, as they tend to make one's legs look shorter and wider. Plus they are trashy looking.

Watch it watch it you could be describing "the next president of the United States" better known as "scumbag's scumbaguette", dba Hillary!

I do believe it's $500,000 not $500 million. Still, she comes away a winner, which seems unfair.

Damn. That would've been sweet :)

Oh come on--it's Joe Biden! What did you expect? Modesty? :-D

Katie was down here (Atlanta) last week doing NBC's heavily hyped interview with runaway bride Jennifer "Marty Feldman-eyed" Wilbanks.

As much as folks would like to see her disappear, I don't think she's going anywhere.

"Jennifer, have you considered the possibility that your decision to run away reflected the pervading hopelessness in the country as a result of the disastrous policies of the Bush administration?"

*LOL!*

There is something seriously wrong with our culture when the Runaway Bride is offered half a million for her story, and yet those who do heroic things, like the Special Forces in Afghanistan, get zero coverage, let alone a book deal.

In related news, Chris Botti, famed jazz trumpeter and the former boyfriend of Katie Couric, whom she dumped via telephone to go back to her married boyfriend, is now dating the plastic nutjob Lisa Gastineau.
