Five Female Marines Feared Dead
CBS/AP ^ | June 24, 2005

A suicide car bomber slammed into a U.S. military convoy in Fallujah, killing two Marines, a Pentagon spokesman said Friday. Three Marines and a sailor were missing after the attack.

CBS News National Security Correspondent David Martin reports that five female Marines are said to be dead, according to officials. They are members of a supply unit who were being driven into Fallujah to assist in searching local women for hidden weapons when their vehicle, which was equipped with armor, was struck by the bomber.

Pentagon spokesman Bryan Whitman said another 13 Marines were wounded in the Thursday night attack and said some women were among the casualties.

The car bomber targeted troops assigned to the II Marine Expeditionary Force, an earlier military statement said. Fallujah, the Anbar province town 40 miles west of Baghdad, was the scene of a large-scale campaign in November by U.S. troops to rout militants.

An earlier report also had said six Marines were killed.

Follow the terror back to its SOURCE and wipe out the source.
The financial sources and spiritual sources as well as man power and infrastructure sources...

I betcha we're gonna do that just as soon as we get this little "pushover" war out of the way.

Seriously, you're 100% correct .... but we're a couple of years past that decision and in a deep hole of our own arrogant and stupid making.

It's called screwing up ..... big time.

"Lead has there been any updates....are there still missing troops?" I'm sincerely sorry to have say this, and I hope I'm wrong, but when you have this kind of a horrific explosion, and "people are missing," it's possibly "code" for "still trying to identify the remains." My deepest sympathy to all, and again, I pray I'm wrong.

Using conventional military in an asymmetric war such as this has been a huge mistake.

9/11 called for non-conventional forces on target cities of the enemy period. What we're doing now is a huge waste.

The Pentagon needs to fear that the jihadis have studied their history. This war is tottering at home (which is all that counts). Just look at ALL the polls.

If the jihadis want it to tip their way, they need to launch a Tet-like offensive which shocks everyone with its scope and boldness. They don't have to win the attack--just attempting it is enough.

They don't have to read their history, they just have to watch the Senate Armed Services hearings yesterday. Linday Graham made the same handwringing observation yesterday while quizzing Rumsfeld. Unfortunately, Graham seemed to indicate that Tet was a military defeat for the US, when really, it was a huge defeat for the Communists. Of course, Walter Cronkite and the rest of the MSM made it a huge propaganda defeat for the US.

This war has turned out to be a complete horror show for our side.

Oil prices are higher than ever, the place is now a disaster zone, and our people are open targets from now on. This is *never* going to stop over there.

We blew it right after 9/11 by not using our strategic nuclear forces to put an end to this war instantly.

You don't think the war in Iraq has anything to do with the War on Terror?

Hold that thought!

Until it makes sense to you.

No matter how long it takes!

In America today we have a strong gender feminist movement, primarily Democrats

Cut that crap!

It's a LEFTIST movement and there have never been more enthusiastic promoters than those presently in the White House and Defense Dept.

Right on, Fido. Those g*dd*m Clinton c***s***ers are nothing but traitors--and yes, I place the main responsibility for the absolute degradation of what used to be the Democrat party squarely at the Clinton's vile feet.

May Durbin and his ilk roast in hell with all the other traitors now infecting that once noble party.

We are fighting Al-Qaida in Iraq right now.

Iraq is just one theater of the global conflict of which the WTC attack was a part.

Looks like Fallujah has relapsed.

You can't hold a city like Fallujah or any other secured area with gimmickry. It takes real men with real weapons and a no nonsense, dead serious approach.

Five female Marines dead ...

Ugly, ugly, ugly. There should be NO women in combat -- officially or unofficially.

The Israeli's manage it (women in combat) quite effectively, with conscription.

Religious Israeli soldiers say, "serving with women is like eating pork"!

That's and antiseptic way of putting it.

....Just heard the military arrested a "journalist" at the scene. The criminal was filming the attack, and had apparently been given advance notice.

That was off of a chat forum on Rantburg from God knows who.

Where's the fact checking? Where's the verification? This is how these "Iraqi urban legends" get started.
