Liberal Hate Speech: A Case Study
Powerlineblog.com ^ | 6/25/05 | Scott Johnson

Posted on 06/25/2005 10:19:15 PM PDT by MplsSteve

My show-business friend writes this evening:

This irrational and virulent hatred radiates from elected officials to all those who elected them. I saw a T-shirt in a Palm Springs shop that said, "So many right-wing Christians, so few lions." Hilarious, n'est-ce pas? Nothing funnier than religious believers being ripped to shreds by wild animals in front of cheering pagans.

I'm intrigued by the liberal furor over Karl Rove's remark about the difference in reactions to 9/11. As my old grandfather used to say, "You throw a stone into a pack of dogs and the one that barks the loudest is the one you hit."

Everything Rove said is absolutely true. I entertained at a 50th anniversary party for a well-known feminist leader about 10 days after 9/11. Much of the liberal elite of the Twin Cities was present. I was wearing a little flag pin that elicited considerable mockery. In a post-performance conversation with 3 prominent DFL activists, they all agreed that 1) America had it coming 2) much of the rest of the world cheered the attacks and that was not a bad thing; 3) the attack was purely a "criminal" matter that required the issuing of indictments, but surely not a war, and finally and most horrifically, a direct quote, "At least we got rid of Barbara Olson."

Like racists who feel free to use the "N" word among themselves, these people felt free to be so frank and unguarded because they absolutely assumed that I shared their worldview. I was so upset I couldn't even EAT, and anyone who knows me knows how serious THAT was. I told them I disagreed completely and left. That was the final straw launching me from my lifelong stint as a Democrat to the Republican party.

Given the recent phony weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth over Karl Rove's comments, I thought this posting was particularly relevent...and quite sad too.

I find it sad that anyone would think we "deserved" it...but it's true.

Opinions anyone?

When it all comes down, my friends, they'll get the rope. They hate America and everything it represents.

Two days after the attacks, my history professor said nothing about it and we were in NYC.

But when the photos came out showing a dirty, ragged John Walker Lindh, she was quite teary-eyed. "Poor guy."

Rove talked about liberals reaction. I thought all these people complaining about it are supposed to be "progressives" now??

Its almost like they are saying, "how dare Rove remind the nation how ineffectual we are".

What to say? This has been more or less the consensus "liberal" attitude towards this country for years--they despise the nation that has given us all so much. And they haven't exactly been coy about exhibiting that contempt, from verbal and physical assaults on returning Vietnam veterans in the sixties and seventies to Dick Durbin's comparison of American soldiers to "Nazis" today.

Whenever I hear some leftist whining that he/she has had their patriotism impugned, it always makes me want to laugh. The term "liberal patriot" is an oxymoron: no such creature exists.

These people are mentally stunted. Find any spoiled child with an immature viewpoint and you will see what a liberal never grew out of. These people look at life through shit colored glasses. I could not imagine living life with such a horrible attitude. To sit around and assign blame to everyone for everything is a waste of time. I could not imagine the self loathing these fools feel. I would be willing to bet liberals have a markedly higher suicide rate than humans do.

I've posted this story before on FR, but it is appropriate here:

I teach in a fairly typical high school.

One day at lunch, one of my colleagues was expressing concern that a Bible was prominently displayed in the principal's office.

I said "Geez! It's not like it's Mein Kampf!"

Another (History) teacher and "Deaniac" responded "I would prefer it."

I was the only one in the room who was appalled.

These are dark times my friends...

"and finally and most horrifically, a direct quote, "At least we got rid of Barbara Olson."

Well, it is important to conduct yourself civilly, and learn how to harness your temper and emotions as you grow older. But I believe it is just as important to reserve the right to outrage. To say to oneself, I know what I SHOULDN'T do right now, but if I don't yield to what my heart and soul are demanding right now, this piece of puke will diminish me in a way that is permanent.

If someone had said that to me about the fine and good and lovely Barbara Olson TEN DAYS! after 9/11, there would have been copious amounts of blood on the floor. And that's including even if the heartless, immature mocker had been a woman.

I believe the Democrats will lose really big in 06 and there is gonna be a shake up like they have never seen before. In all seriousness, not just my own bias, they really don't have anything to offer. All their "Great Society" programs did, were to create an entitlement society that became dependent upon them.

I will never forget the first time I heard the tape of Lyndon Johnson telling the Dem Senate Leader at the time, that "If we pass this Bill, the Negro's will be voting Democrat for the next 200 years" The Democrats knew what they were doing and it didn't matter to them who they hurt in the process, just as long as they stayed in power.

They act as if it's alright for them to make nasty comments about a woman fighting cancer but they are up in arms when a non liberal mentions AIDS and homosexuality in the same sentence. The conservatives and the people in the middle will eventually have to join forces to remove the scum of liberalism. It won't be that difficult since the vast majority of liberals are sissies and wimps.

CWII is probably unavoidable..

It's sure going to be a lot more complicated this time...who do we go after? Every loser who's still got a "Kerry/Edwards" bumpers sticker (ok, it's a start...)

But still, conceptually speaking, the divide is almost ambiguous when referring to political beliefs that can't necessarily be defined geographically. I mean, red state/blue states, the divide in many of those states was nearly 50/50.

I guess I'm just thinking it'll will make CWI look like a square dance. On top of that, the Red Chinese and Red Latin America will be salivating over the leftovers...

oh well, 2:00AM ramble /off

I find the use of the word "WE" in this context...telling.

They are living out their frustrated 1960's counterculture dreams vicariously, through the actions of people who are out to destroy THEM.

M.A.S.H. had it wrong. Suicide is NOT painless.

Full Disclosure: The theme song from the TV show was the music to "Suicide is Painless", which was sung in the original movie to a character who was planning/faking his own suicide in order to induce one of the nurses to go to bed with him.

No Cheers, given the original topic, unfortunately!

Yeah, here is some more examples;

"America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way"
( 4/26/2005 ) Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal is standing by her statement that the U.S. "is responsible in some way" for the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. "Not to have the courage to ask these questions of ourselves is to betray the victims of 9-11," she said in a new statement issued by her publicist, according to New York Newsday. Gyllenhaal appears in the movie "The Great New Wonderful," which features five stories about people living in the aftermath of the Twin Towers attack. The piece is screening at the Tribeca Film Festival, an event Robert DeNiro helped launch in 2002 to benefit the recovery of Lower Manhattan.

"America, America. What did you do--either intentionally or unintentionally--in the world order, in Central America, in Africa where bombs are still blasting? America, what did you do in the global warming conference when you did not embrace the smaller nations? America, what did you do two weeks ago when I stood at the world conference on racism, when you wouldn't show up? Oh, America, what did you do?" -- Former San Francisco Supervisor Amos Brown on September 17.

I think this will come back to bite Hillary.

( 2/27/2004 ) Sen. Hillary Clinton said this week that Iraqi women were better off under Saddam Hussein, arguing that when the brutal dictator ran the country women were at least assured the right to participate in Iraq's public life. In comments that went unreported by the mainstream press, the former first lady told the Brookings Institution on Wednesday that since Saddam's removal from power, Iraq's postwar governing councils had engaged in "pullbacks in the rights [women] were given under Saddam Hussein." Sen. Clinton noted that while Saddam had been "an equal opportunity oppressor," women were at least assured certain constitutional guarantees. While ignoring reports about the brutal dictator's rape rooms and other forms of persecution that were routine for women under his regime, Sen. Clinton insisted: "On paper, women had rights."
