>> It was in 732 that Charles Martel defeated their advance at Tours.
Martel was a true hero to Christianity, as was his grandson, Charlemagne.
>> If there is one thing that everybody knows about the Crusades, it is that they were a Bad Thing <<
Only those who are "historically-challenged" believe that lie. The Crusades stopped the spread of the cult called Islam before it could destroy Western Civilization and Christianity. If you live in America or Western Europe -- enjoying their freedoms -- you should get on your knees and thank God every day for the brave men who fought in the Crusades.
Good points. Also, remember when the fanatics overran the Byzantine (East Roman) Empire when they captured and pillaged Constantinople in 1453. That's why Constantinople is now called "Istanbul". By the way, what few elements of civilization the Arabs preserved was largely the product of what they discovered in Byzantium. In fact, even the Koran contains elements (much misunderstood by Muhammed) of Judaism and Christianity that Islam (mis)appropriated.
Late BTTT...
Well put!
