Inspite of all the union money, one fact stands out.

Union dues are only supposed to be used for collective bargaining, contract administration, or grievance adjustment.

Most unions (I have belonged to 6 over the years) have at least 30% Republicans among their members (a number I pull directly from my... imagination). It is high time that the leadership started listening to this huge bloc.

For generations, the Dems had been able to hold onto power by delivering goodies to the people who finance them
The downside, of course, is once they are out of power, and unable to deliver the goodies, then the people who had been giving them money and time no longer have anything to show for it, so they stop supporting the Dems

Next we need to end the union monopolies of the teacher's union and all the government union. No union that represents people paid by US taxpayers in any way shape or form should be allowed to participate in politics. They can encourage their members to vote, but not one dime of dues should be spent on politics.

My sympathies to you for being represented by AFSCME. Hope you never need them for something important. (I'll give them credit for successful bargaining on the issue of wages.)

Couldn't have said it better myself. My ex-wife is a teacher, and even though she's gotten more liberal the last few years, she hates the teacher's union.
She's been a nurse long before she was a teacher and knows the difference.

The UFCW had some real sleazeballs working for them and some rather unsavory recruiting tactics back when I used to be a non-union grocery store worker.

I just hope they don't start buying off Republicans with that money. Democrats supporting the goonery and socialism of unions is a natural fit. But any Republican that would support unions is a 2-bit political whore that needs to be kicked out of the party.
