You don't have to hit anything with it. Either, the sound blast will totally knock your target unconscious or the wind from the bullet going by so fast will give your target pneumonia and it will die anyway!!
It ain't handgrenades and it ain' horseshoes, but "almost" will probably do the job with this one.

".500 LIMBAUGH Long" is a real Rush.

That's sweet. With hot handloads, I can't think of anywhere you'd be undergunned. And best of all, you can carry that all day comfortably, where you couldn't the S&W 500.

Yeah, I'll be staying with my .44 mag and "hand-punisher" 14" Contender in .375 JDJ. They get the job done from small to big.....
Interesting article, though.

Is that photo with the bullets, showing them at their actual size??
To: elkfersupper
This is what I use, chambered in .45 Long Colt. Has control and knockdown power. But man, that .50 S&W Magnum does give me wood.....

Or a lever action, maybe.

"I suggest renaming it to the ".500 LIMBAUGH Long"."
No, I don't think so.
To: 45Auto
I think the .500 S and W is really a rifle cartridge.Me too, and evidently so does New England Firearms. They've just brought out their single-shot with a 22" barrel in that caliber. Runs around $300.00. Don't know what I could do with it but I'm gonna get one.
I wrote H&R Firearms that they ought to chamber their "Buffalo" rifle in the .500 - a poor man's "Sharps Big Fifty" if you will.

Depends.
What size monitor do you have?
To: Shawndell Green
I would like to see ruger or one of the other gun makers come out with a carbine on the order of the .44 mag carbine in this cartridge. It would be a great short range gun for hunting deer in the brush in Northern CA.

Good article.
I'm at the age where I like big bullets but slow comfortable ones. Loved the recoil and roar at one time but now that my hearing and etc are gone it's time to slow down.
mc
Will prolly get one eventually though - from a recoil sensitive yupster.

I noticed the date on your photo. What did you do? File your return and decide to take some photos of your guns on the following day?
