Howlin knows who I am, nuffsenuff. I've been here for years. But go ahead and indulge in your fantasy that I'm over here on behalf of some retired Ambassador or some retired CIA guy to weigh in on an issue that not even the wildest imagination could have dreamed up at the time I signed up here. I know it makes you feel better to think you've made some grand discovery.

You need to cogitate some more about this.

"has publicly and loudly proclaimed that the changes in the website had nothing to do with Wilson or the SSIC report, that HE was responsible for the changes, and that Wilson wasn't 'fired.'"

The guy Lugsoul is quoting runs Truthout. He will say anything. (And he certinaly didn't proclaim this loudly or publicly.)

Daou ran a reach-out program for Kerry. He coordinated the bloggers--or was supposed to. He was a nobody, who would have been in no position to know Kerry's thinking about Wilson one way or the other.

Lugsoul even claimed Wilson continued to campaign for Kerry. Of course he couldn't produce any proof of that. But that's his way.

More unsubstantiated claims, Sammy? Show ONE time I've cited to Truthout, if that's even a real place. Just ONE, since you made the claim. Go ahead - or are you just going to start name-calling again. You made the charge - back it up, big boy. Put a little meat on the skeletal crap that substitutes for reason in your world.

Just ONE. But we know you can't do it. So you'll just resort to some more name-calling, I'm sure.

I have been following this thread with some interest as I believe that some of the posters are on to what is really behind this story.

For a woman who is supposed to be a secret operative in the CIA you must admit that Ms. Plame/Wilson was remarkably indiscreet in voicing her opposition to the war by public donations (under her real name)that could be traced back to her plus the pictures in Vanity Fair..taken after her supposed outing but very publicity seeking.

I believe that Victor Hanson said in a private conversation that Wilson was bragging about his wife working for the CIA.

This appears to be a couple who not only vehemently disagreed with the administration but were making very overt attempts to publicize their opposition to the war.

"Secret" or undercover or discreet don't seem to be words to describe these publicity hounds.

OH, and wasn't Wilson also out promoting his book by coming out against the war...seems to be a twofer for him and a definite conflict of interest into why he was such a public anti-war activist.

Plame/Wilson had self-serving and self-promoting reasons for opposing the administration on the Iraqi war and I am more interested in finding out why that is. This went beyond mere opposition into actively promoting their anti-war theories. I wouldn't be surprised if leftist groups are behind this. It smells of an attempted setup of Bushies.

That's the story behind the story that is fascinating to the rest of us.

Who encouraged, financed, authorized them to take it upon themselves to investigate the yellowcake story. Ms. Plame originally denied having any involvement in getting her husband the assignment.

It certainly wasn't Dick Cheney was it? That we know for sure. No thanks to the misinformation spread by Joe Wilson.

Something has an "off" smell to it about the whole story they have reguritated since they became instant media darlings.

I'm just curious as to why he tries to defend Joe Wilson so much.

And he seems obsessed with Plame. Like he knows her or something.

here is what is hilarious to me about this whole situation

the persons who most likely outed Valerie Plame are Valerie Plame, her husband Joe Wilson and perhaps Judith Miller
[unsubstantiated scuttlebutt says Plame and Miller are buddies and given that Miller worked the WMD beat for the NY Times, wouldn't be a surprise]

but this is the piece de resistance the same NY Times that started this brouhaha by publishing Wilson's op-ed, which arguably was an egregious leak of classified information in and of itself....

is now saying never mind because they are using the same arguments those of us on the right have been using for months and months in respect to this non scandal non leak in order to keep their own journalist out of jail, as in it was common knowledge Plame was a CIA analyst, because it turns out Mrs. Wilson was listed in Who Whos of America under the name Valerie Plame, wife of Ambassador Joe Wilson, way before this brouhaha started

and the better kicker is this information came out long ago, but the same Mainstream Media ignored it........until it was convenient to use it for their own vested interests......the irony is so delicious

let me refresh your memories:

From memory lane:
The CIA leak
by Robert Novak
October 1, 2003
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/robertnovak/rn20031001.shtml

excerpt:

How big a secret was it? It was well known around Washington that Wilson's wife worked for the CIA. Republican activist Clifford May wrote Monday, in National Review Online, that he had been told of her identity by a non-government source before my column appeared and that it was common knowledge. Her name, Valerie Plame, was no secret either, appearing in Wilson's "Who's Who in America" entry. A big question is her duties at Langley. I regret that I referred to her in my column as an "operative," a word I have lavished on hack politicians for more than 40 years. While the CIA refuses to publicly define her status, the official contact says she is "covered" -- working under the guise of another agency. However, an unofficial source at the Agency says she has been an analyst, not in covert operations.

I also believe at least one more columnist, based in Washington, agreed with May and Novak that Plame's "secret" was no "secret"

the legislation which the special prosecutor is working under states very specifically that there has to be a malicious intent to expose a covert operative, and the person had to be operating covertly within five years of said leak......

Plame hadn't been covert for 7 years and her employment with the agency wasn't a secret so how could there be any intent

just another waste of taxpayers money to appease the moonbats

the Bush adminstration had every right to call a spade a spade or a liar a liar - see Joe Wilson - read Senate Intelligence Committee report on how they feel about Mr. Wilson.......

my only regret is the Bush administration wimped out and backed down on those infamous 16 words since Bush has been vindicated, ironically by Wilson's own report, the Senate Intelligence Committee and the UK's own probe into the claim, by Lord Taylor, which confirms that the Brits always had independent evidence, independent from the so called forged documents that Saddam had tried procuring yellowcake from Niger........so BUSH NEVER LIED................

I remember, a long time ago, I saw this Pincus fellow on PBS giving an interview. I don't even remember what it was about but I know I didn't like what he said.

My then eight year old son came in the room and I turned to him and said "That guy's name is Pincus...I thinkus Mr. Pincus is a Dinkus."

My son just rolled with laughter! We still laugh about it. Every chance I get I will say "Well, you know what I thinkus?" He takes it from there. LOL!

Totally off topic, but there you go.

Again, I truly doubt that many CIA analysts would risk their careers to talk to a reporter.

Any female dumb to marry that dingbat Joe Wilson would be capable of anything.

If it wasn't this, it would be something else, I'm sure. It's what the DU trolls are told to concentrate on, I'm sure.

Did you notice how he had to work Jeff Gannon into the conversation? Pure DU tactics.

Note the sophistry. I pointed out that Wilson got kicked from the Kerry camp after the 9/11 report. He brings up Jeff Gannon. When I cite the pulldown of the web page, using Wayback Machine, Lug says the guy who ran the site said it was an accident. When I point out that the guy he quotes had no say in that, and was only in charge of sending out talking points to the pro-Kerry bloggers--Lug moves on to the next lie.

Lather, rinse, repeat. He does this on every thread.

and I don't know if you remember but in the run up to the 2004 elections, it seems a lot of CIA people had lots to say vs the President and the war in Iraq, perhaps in contravention of confidential obligations but that's OK
apparently
