The Heartland Launches New Hollywood Values Movement

By Kevin Fobbs

There comes a time in the history of a nation where the values and the traditions which are part of the very fabric of our being implores us to reconnect to our roots, to restore our principles and to recapture the very essence of what our traditional family values were based upon in the founding of America.

The Grand Traverse Bay Film Festival which exemplified Faith, Freedom and Family as the hallmark themes of its movies that were shown also helped to point out that Hollywood and the movie makers, the film distributors, the actors and actresses, the production companies and all those whose jobs and careers are devoted to providing America and the world with solid entertainment needed a true connect with America's Heartland.

In many ways the millions of American families and American viewers also needed a direct connection with their on-screen and behind the screen actors, directors and all those who make up the Hollywood industry that is just beginning to re-emerge into a new, better more responsive Hollywood that hears, listens, and is concerned about what values they display on the Silver and Small Screen.

Although there were many discussions underway over the past year or so, the Traverse Bay Film Festival and the movie makers and distributors as well as the film festival officials, agreed there was an immediate need for a vehicle which was committed to truly two-way communication between Hollywood and the Heartland of America, which was more than an infrequent reaction to liberal Hollywood liberalism and the latest wild statement to come from an actor or actress. They and others felt it had to be much, much more than that.

What they and others over the course of the year were describing and were building a growing consensus around was the need for the emergence of a "New Hollywood" which would be coupled with the old traditional values we celebrate in our homes and communities. These visionaries saw a new exciting trek which all Americans in the Heartland could embark upon in this new 21st Century journey to recapture America's Heartland.

What will this new revolution look like and who will be the new heroes and who is in charge? All of these are sound and justified questions with fairly simple yet incredibly apropos answers.

Do you remember the excitement you felt when as a young child you poured through novels and stories on some of the exciting and sometimes thrilling accounts of those individuals who exhibited true profiles of courage? Their stories lit up your imagination and sometimes they lit up the Silver Screen as well.

These were the women and men who gave their lives along the timeline of our nation's young developing history, who cemented their contributions in our young fertile imaginations. They decided to stand for something that their children and the future generation of Americans could inherit. It was a last legacy that they left for you and I.

This new revolution is sort of like that. These actors and actresses that want to act in movies that are family oriented, devoid of the salacious sexual innuendo, the violent characterizations which add nothing more to the plot than to sink what little moral message that might have been found in it to an even lower subterranean level in the film. That is not the legacy that they would want to leave our children and the future generations of Americans.

These are the new Hollywood heroes who are coming to the forefront, led by filmmakers who are not afraid to make the G-rated movies that are making boatloads of money ... the life blood of Hollywood ... and more than R-rated movies. The new heroes of Hollywood are the film distributors and the film festival promoters like newly made friends, Jim and Ellen Hubbard of the American Film Renaissance, with their highly regarded American Film Festival.

The new heroes of Hollywood are the actresses like Cheryl Felicia Rhoads, and Morgan Brittany Ben Stein ,Bo Derek ,Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Danny Aiello, Dennis Miller and dozens and dozens of others who have the heart and the drive to stand up and support traditional family values and promote those values without fear of retribution, because they understand that the new revolution of family values and an organization which will not only promote those values but will finally make the connection with Hollywood and the Heartland that many families have yearned for and many in Hollywood have strived desperately to connect with.

Who is in charge of this new movement that brings Hollywood and the Heartland together? You are!

You and the millions of Americans across the nation that have decided that in 2005 the Heartland is telling Hollywood, we want more from you than a promotional site; we want more from you than a quick photo opportunity when you breeze into town or step across the red carpet, smiling, waving and sometimes vilifying America, its heritage, its American servicemen and servicewoman, and its young people who grow to adulthood trying to emulate some in Hollywood, like Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, Ben Affleck, Ed Asner, Alec Baldwin, Janeane Garofalo, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and far too many others.

You are in charge in every state, every county and in every city and more importantly in every home. You will be able to communicate directly with your favorite hero from Hollywood, be it a filmmaker, production company, film festival coordinator and yes...actor or actress that really does "get it". You will determine the new "Academy Awards" of the Heartland. You will be able to celebrate those actors and actresses and film companies and many, many others in the industry who captured your heart with their commitment.

The red carpet of the Heartland for the true heroes of Hollywood will be celebrated in the new Motown, the Motown where Hollywood and the Heartland come together to marvel in the new fly over cinema stars contributions.

You can join the ranks of Heartland Heroes of Hollywood, and pledge along with our new Heroes a commitment to a service to our nation, that brings them to your towns and communities to perform a civic task, or public work that touches the life of a family, a child, or a faith project as well. These are the new Heroes of Hollywood who believe in faith in action ... values of giving ... values of volunteering ... and values of good clean entertainment.

This 50-state movement is your movement, because you have said in Traverse City, Michigan; in Houston, Texas; in Atlanta, Georgia; in Nashville, Tennessee and yes even in Hollywood ... with a movie industry that has produced 12 times more r-rated films than G-rated films between 1989 and 2003. You are simply tired. When you have taken your children to G-rated films which have generated 11 times more profit than R-rated films ... you are simply tired when Hollywood does not produce more family-friendly films.

Today ... Hollywood is going to take notice because you are in charge and Heartland Hollywood Heroes ... the nation's newest triple threat for good ole' American Heartland values is the newest sheriff in tinsel town ... and guess what before it is said in done there will be more than 10 million sheriff deputies standing right beside it.
