COLORADO SPRINGS -- The U.S. military has devised its first-ever war plans for guarding against and responding to terrorist attacks in the United States, envisioning 15 potential crisis scenarios and anticipating several simultaneous strikes around the country, according to officers who drafted the plans.
The classified plans, developed here at Northern Command headquarters, outline a variety of possible roles for quick-reaction forces estimated at as many as 3,000 ground troops per attack, a number that could easily grow depending on the extent of the damage and the abilities of civilian response teams.
The possible scenarios range from "low end," relatively modest crowd-control missions to "high-end," full-scale disaster management after catastrophic attacks such as the release of a deadly biological agent or the explosion of a radiological device, several officers said.
Some of the worst-case scenarios involve three attacks at the same time, in keeping with a Pentagon directive earlier this year ordering Northcom, as the command is called, to plan for multiple simultaneous attacks.

But then how would they react to a dirty bomb?
It's sad to say, but with our current "open borders" policy, our enemy already has entered the US and await their tasking. My best guess it that it will be a simultaneous attack on multiple cities and targets. My best guess is that it will be closer to the 06 election in hopes that they can sway the electorate like they did in Spain. Of course, I want to be wrong in my prediction, but.........
not good enough, I want to hear about a list of countries that support muslim fanatics that will be held responsible (Syria,Iran)
So who leaked the "classified plans"?
Karl Rove.
A key word you seem to be ignoring is "classified".
How would you want them to react? Why do YOU want to know classified plans?
Is this just more second-guessing of our President and our administration by self-appointed experts seeking to "help" them do their jobs better?
So you want to know war plans in a time of war?
Why?
If there is a major attack or series of attacks on this country by the islamoscumsheetheads you can bet that I will not be the only one with one shot=one kill on anything with a turban on top of it plan.

Maybe Pentagon released this on purpose to fool our enemies. Hard to say.
I hope it involves lots of bombs.
Didn't they do that on Sept 11 and shortly after? I would call things like the Combat Air Patrols and new rules of engagement for hijacked planes the "first-ever" war plans to deal with terror attacks in the US.
Journalists, sloppy use of language, bad memory, or both?
"The classified plans, ***developed here at*** Northern Command headquarters"
Was this written by some AT NorCom??!!
USNORTHCOM of course.
It's to make the public feel secure in knowing the government has plans in place.

Just don't mess up and nail any Sikhs -- they are good guys.
And has diminishing returns. Ex:
US airliner is shot down over Kentucky by terrorists using missiles.
Government claims aircraft downed due to windshear in effort to sidestep effects of terror on public (primary goal of the terrorists).
Its what I would do, but one problem: when you go to ask congress for $$ to counter missile attacks, no one will be listening, especially the public, because they've been led to believe the threat is low.
Agreed. They are good Americans.
I hear ya, great point.
What, you don't have a highly protected bunker?
If you can call a cardboard box a highly protected bunker, well then ? yes, I do have one, but, when rain gets on it, it just falls apart.
This has got to be one of the most frighteningly irrational and warped posts I've ever read on FR. I can't imagine how you must loathe waking up each day in the terrible scary world you perceive. If this isn't sarcasm, I pity you.

Admit it, you failed high school math; twice.
1939-1945: Germany rounds up 10 million (6 million subsequently murdered) unarmed "undesireables." Over 6 years, hundreds of thousands of Germans were tasked for this project...consuming enormous resources, time, money, and effort.
2005: The U.S. has over 100 Million White Males, more than 60 million of whom are armed (oh, and there are another 25 million non-White or non-male Americans who are likewise armed).
Compare logistics. Contrast.
Anyone who thinks that rounding up the latter is feasible needs to retake high school math...again.
fweeeeeeeeewwwwww .... for a minute there, I was getting worried.

As long as you have duct tape and clear plastic sheeting, you're fine.
Don't forget the Nyquil and the Coconut oil!
How would our enemies benefit from from knowing these plans? They are only secret because Americans would object to martial law.
Do you think all government actions are benevolent?
Haru: You ask questions with your answers embedded in them.
This is considered a form of rudeness in our society.
The tone presupposes that you disrespect the intelligence of the person you are addressing.
Now we would'nt want that to happen. Would we Haru-doggie?
Pentagon authorities have rejected the idea of creating large standing units dedicated to homeland missions. Instead, they favor a "dual-use" approach, drawing on a common pool of troops trained both for homeland and overseas assignments.
"For the Pentagon to acknowledge that it would have to respond to catastrophic attack and needs a plan was a big step," said James Carafano, who follows homeland security issues for the Heritage Foundation, a conservative Washington think tank.
Hmmm wonder whose idea it was to 'create large standing Armies for homeland defense?...and under whose ultimate control they would be?
Glad the 'Puzzle Palace' put the kabosh on that at least for now
Yep ..we leave the doors wide open for all the terrorists in the world of every stripe to enter and diffuse throughout our nation..
Then we create big bureaucracies with huge tax sucking budgets to deal with them and give them all the 'laws' they will need....
We allow the terrorist access to our heartland..give them the opportunity to set up their attacks just the way they want 'em...
Then we will attact them after they attack us here at home?
Thats a humdinger of plan alright
General Tommy Franks said ,as he went out the door,..that we were "One terror attack away from suspending the Constituion"
But what heck at least we will be safe...
imo
I've got mixed feelings about martial law in the event of a single or multiple horrific attacks. It could be the only means of order amid the panic, lawlessness, etc. Imagine your own little world in the midst of this. Imagine the local gangs. Imagine the enemy already within. Your local LE would be waaaay overburdened. That said, NO, I don't like the idea of martial law at all.
Anyway, I thought from the thread title that this was going to be about who we nuked first. :o)
Funny!
Great post!
These don't exactly sound to me like "war plans", they sound a lot more like martial-law plans.
No, for that do a search for any of bayourod's posts.

Cant touch S. arabia.
>>I will not be the only one with one shot=one kill on anything with a turban on top of it plan.
Yup, morons will like you will gun down Sikhs! LOL!
"no one will be listening, especially the public, because they've been led to believe the threat is low. "
Better, they have been LIED to and made to believe the threat is low.
I no longer trust or respect this government. It is self serving and not interested in the public welfare. It is not interested in the safety of it's citizens who live within it's borders and it is definately not interested in upholding and defending the Constitution to which it is under.
It has in effect become the enemy of my people and my family. Until we get people in Washington DC that put Americans FIRST, this Government will remain my enemy.
I know what you are saying. That reminds me of a movie that Bruce Willis played in before 9/11 actually happened in real life. The Siege was about military response to terrorist attacks that took place in the United States. FYI, we were much more composed folks in real life than the Americans were characeterized in the movie.
