Try this one...the pictures are older, I think, but it is similar and doesn't require a download: http://virtualearth.msn.com.

I work in the Geodetics and Cartography Department of a major oil company, so we usually hear of developments like this rather quickly. Been playing with it for three or four weeks. My house is not in the picture (not built yet), but the dirt road is there, which would date the landsat data in my area to the late 1990's.
A friend of mine who owns 20 acres in the country looked up his property - it was amazing what you could see from the landsat photo.

it is exactly that - for those of us who never grew past "MA! He's looking at me!"-stage.

I used this software on June 16, 2005 at my friend's house... which means it's been out for a while.

Please note, the only reason that I know the specific date is because I had to document it for my Eagle project.

I've been looking at the Charleston, WV area and it's so distorted it isn't worth looking at. Everywhere else I go is pretty great. Is it just not "complete" in some areas, or do I have a bad download? I can tell where I am because I was born and raised there, but it's really "unuseable"'

Yes we got it. It's really amazing!

We've noticed some addresses we looked up weren't accurate though, they were off by an few houses.

Kinda late for outrage.

Ther military has had much better technology than this for the past 20-30 years or so.

Or, to make it simpler, see Microsoft's alternative, which seems to have older pictures, but does not require a download, at http://virtualearth.msn.com .

Anyone else just a bit nervous about this? Would make a great terrorist tool to plan attacks.

I don't like this ONE BIT!

Real-time data can be overlaid accurately. There are a lot of sources of localized [near-]real-time data available; just need to locate them and figure out how to overlay them - with this technology, that won't be particularly hard.

Lots of cities have real-time traffic cameras; should only take a dedicated programmer a few days to link them all into Google Earth.

From viewing my house I can tell the image was taken in the Fall of 2002.

From my viewing, I can tell that it was taken on the morning of Oct. 23, 2002, sometime between 5:15 am and 6:00 am because of the morning newspaper still lying in my driveway.

It's been around for awhile as Keyhole. Google bought them a little while back. Very cool.

Go back to where you lived when you were little and tilt the screen and "drive" to your grandparents house.

And check out hotels that you are thinking of staying at to see what they look like. Are they on the beach etc?

Salesman can look to see if a plant looks big or small and how many truck docks etc.

Very cool.
